  L’éthique de la santé publique est un champ peu exploré en France au contraire de l’éthique du soin ou de l’éthique de la recherche. Les sujets de questionnement éthique propres à la santé publique ne manquent pourtant pas, comme en ont témoigné ces derniers mois de crise sanitaire. Citons-en ici quelques exemples : comment justifier le dépistage pour telle ou telle maladie à une population entière ? Que signifie « éduquer » à la santé ou « responsabiliser » les usagers ? Quelles responsabilités civiles peut-on ou doit-on mobiliser au service de la santé publique ? Au nom de quelles valeurs ou principes sont combattues ou au contraire tolérées les inégalités de santé grandissantes en France et dans le monde ? En période de crise sanitaire, jusqu’où peut-on légitimer les restrictions aux libertés individuelles au nom de la santé collective et de la protection des plus vulnérables ? Tels sont les exemples de questionnements éthiques qu’il conviendra d’identifier et d’éclairer durant ces journées.

  PhD students from the XXXIV cycle of the joint PhD Programme in Historical, Geographical, Anthropological Studies (University of Padova, Ca' Foscari Venice, Verona) are happy to invite you to their conference, titled "Crises and Infrastructures: Responses to Change Between Materiality and Immateriality. A Dialogue Between Anthropology, Geography and History". We will be exploring the interactions between various examples of Crises and Infrastructural response, trying to push for an interdisciplinary dialogue. We aim to reflect not only on the role of infrastructures as means of problem-solving, but also on the varied outcomes of critical moments.   The imagination of the North in the arts

  L’objectif de cette journée d’étude est de fournir une lecture critique de l’imaginaire nordique dans les arts, en observant non seulement la généalogie, les tendances, les constantes traversant les diverses formes artistiques et ses évolutions à travers les époques, mais aussi la manière dont cet imaginaire se voit réapproprier par les Nordiques dans une optique de singularisation face à la menace que représente le processus d’uniformisation à l’œuvre dans la circulation culturelle mondialisée. Sera également, à l’inverse, abordé le mouvement de rejet émanant de certains artistes qui, en réaction à l’imaginaire nordique globalisé, visent à redéfinir cette fois-ci de l’intérieur une identité nordique débarrassée de toute tendance boréaliste.

  Intersectional Challenges in Afroeuropean Communities

  8th Biennial Afroeuropeans Network Conference

  The conference aims to consider how Afroeuropean communities are shaped by the intersections of ‘race’ and ethnicity with other markers of identification such as gender, class, sexuality, ability, age, citizenship status, language… Informed by intersectional thinking and its rejection of unidimensional perspectives in activism, policy and research, the conference explores how diverse processes of privileging and discrimination interact, making for complex and dynamic experiences of what it means to be Afroeuropean. It acknowledges that the racial and ethnic alterity of Afroeuropeans intersects with other identities (e.g. male, female, queer, working class, religious, disabled, aged…) and specifically seeks to examine to what extent these intersections create new alignments and opportunities.

  Revealment and dissimulation of the human body in the public space

  Le présent appel à contribution porte sur la question de la monstration (exhibition) et la dissimulation (pudeur) du corps humain dans l'espace public. Que peut-on montrer dans la société ? Que doit-on dissimuler ? Quelles injonctions sont faites aux sujets ? Où place-t-on le curseur de la monstration / dissimulation chez les acteurs que sont le législateur, le juge, le sujet de droit, le justiciable (demandeur / défendeur) qui serait sujet montrant ou regardant ? Quelles opérations de codage, de catégorisation, de normalisation, de responsabilisation, ou encore de dressage de la corporéité sont à l’œuvre dans la société, en général, chez le législateur et le juge, plus particulièrement ? Les aspects suivants seront abordés : le corps saisi par les religions et la morale ; le corps du délinquant sexuel et du patient ; le corps sans entraves et sexuel ; le corps et/de l'artiste ; le corps de la revendication et de la contestation.

  Images and Borderlands: Mediterranean basin between Christendom and Ottoman Empire in the Early Modern Age

  Following in the footsteps of Fernand Braudel, an increasing number of recent studies show that the Mediterranean basin might be considered as a “borderland”, “borderscape”  or “Frontier” suggesting that this area is not strictly a border between Christian and Muslim civilization, but a basin in which the two traditions and cultures meet and overlap, with an extraordinary variety of reactions to the hegemonic practices (acceptance, conflict, refusal, dissent). The aim of this conference is to bring together scholars who will discuss, from different perspectives and with a multidisciplinary approach, the variety of themes (topics) which revolve around the common issue of reflecting the problem of borderlands as a consequence of the encounter between Christendom and Ottoman Empire in the Early modern Mediterranean. The starting point of examination will be images, i.e. the usage of images (pictures, mental images, literary images and other visual representations …) as historical evidence.

  Revisiting the Italian architectural debate 1952-1966 (1/2)

  La scène italienne des années 1960 constitue un des foyers les plus intenses de la théorie architecturale et urbaine de la seconde moitié du XX^e siècle. À l’image des études pionnières de Saverio Muratori sur Venise et sur Rome (1959-1960 et 1963) ou celle, plus tardive de Carlo Aymonino et d’Aldo Rossi sur Padoue (1970), il se caractériserait principalement par un intérêt renouvelé pour la forme des villes historiques – celui pour la forme du territoire ou du paysage n’arriverait que dans un second temps, par un élargissement du cadre d’étude. On le considère ainsi souvent comme un des fronts de rupture avec la pensée fonctionnaliste des congrès internatinaux d'architecture moderne (Ciam), parallèle à celui que le Team X mène de l’intérieur.

  Internet, Digital Data, Power and Rivalries in the Post-Soviet Area

  For more than a decade, Internet and digital networks have played a central part in most of the contemporary conflicts. Whether it deals with their storage, circulation, production or their manipulation (both literally and figuratively), digital data are being mobilized in a wide array of geopolitical crises and rivalries. Moreover, more numerous and diverse strategies are being developed to control these data as the ongoing datafication of society widens its reach into new areas of human activity. Computer piracy, the destruction of infrastructures and the manipulation of information have become tools in the hands of a growing number of actors willing to confirm or reverse a given geopolitical power relationship. The post-Soviet area constitutes a fertile ground for the deployment of such tactics and strategies of control. Disrupting the circulation networks, or the treatment and storage infrastructures of digital data, has progressively become a full-fledged strategy in the conflicts and rivalries that permeate this post-imperial space. As such, the struggle between several “imagined communities” (Anderson), grounded on diverging representations of memory, identity, and language, constitutes a powerful catalyzer of digital conflictuality.

  The generative uses of architectural forms

  La notion de château englobe de multiples réalités formelles bien souvent difficiles à classer ou échelonner avec précision dans le temps et l’espace. Le château incarne un système politique complexe : la féodalité. Il revêt des fonctions multiples, lieu de pouvoir, habitat familial, lieu de protection de quelques occupants ou refuge de la population etc. Castrum, castellum, fortia, quelles réalités bâties l’homme du Moyen Âge désigne-t-il derrière ces termes ? Nous nous questionnerons plus spécifiquement sur comment les usages et les fonctions se manifestent à travers les formes architecturales du château ? Les formes désignent ici l’ensemble des éléments architecturaux, qu’il s’agisse de la silhouette de l’édifice ou du détail d’un élément fonctionnel ou décoratif. Il s’agira donc de mettre en lumière des formes architecturales du château récurrentes ou non, qui caractérisent des coutumes propres au système féodal.

  Occupying Space during Bronze and Iron Ages: From site to landscape

  6th Doctoral Meetings of the European School of Protohistory of Bibracte

  Archaeology and Space have always been intrinsically connected. On one hand, different attributes of the environment affected human beings forcing them to adapt their behaviour in order to succeed, while on the other, in doing so, communities have influenced their surrounding spaces by transforming them, in some cases irreversibly. As all human actions are by definition immersed in space, for this year’s meeting we have decided to approach the questions of understanding and interpreting these complex processes looking through the prism of scale on which they happen. The extent of these ranges from the processes that occur on the small levels in the spaces of archaeological sites extending to the larger levels when dealing with the narrative of cultural landscapes. Sessions will provide reflection on the social and spatial aspects of archaeological sites and landscapes and will incorporate themes related to subsistence, economy, social behaviour and ideology within the timespan of the European Bronze and Iron Ages.

  The workshop has the aim of giving an overview of the progress of research regarding illuminated legal manuscripts in Europe with the aim of carrying out a reflection on the methodological implications and on the practical and theoretical challenges that such research entails. During the Workshop, different case of study related to some regions of the European territory will be analyzed with a particular attention to what concerns the production, use and circulation of the different manuscripts examined. The Workshop also aims to question the potential offered by new technologies and the interdisciplinary approach in the study of the illuminated legal manuscript in order to overcome the limits and open up innovative and fruitful research paths.

  Spatialisation and temporalisation of hospitality

  Ces journées d'étude font suite à la parution des Cahiers Thématiques n°18 portant sur la notion d'hospitalité. Nous mettons l'accent sur une double approche : sa spatialisation et sa temporalisation. Nous souhaitons questionner la spatialisation de l’hospitalité, c’est-à-dire la manière de penser spatialement la possibilité de l’hospitalité. Corrélativement, nous souhaitons traiter le fait que l’expérience vécue de l’hospitalité correspond à une temporalisation de gestes, de relations, de moments qui sont nécessairement associés à des espaces. Dès lors, comment dans la conception se met en place ou non un dialogue entre ces dimensions (composantes) spatiales et temporelles de l’hospitalité ? Comment l’hospitalité rentre-t-elle dans les intentions des architectes, paysagistes, artistes, designers ? Comment dans la conception peut-on concevoir une architecture, un paysage, une signalétique, une intervention artistique qui participe à/de l’hospitalité ?

  En 2000, le numéro 17 de la revue Communication & Organisation, « Europe et communication », voyait le jour dans le contexte du lancement de l’Euro, événement révélateur du primat de la dimension économique qui a marqué la construction européenne depuis le Traité de Rome en 1957. En analysant la place et les responsabilités de la communication dans les avancées et les difficultés de la construction européenne, ce numéro interrogeait, d’une part, le rôle des États en tant qu’interfaces entre l’Europe et le citoyen et, d’autre part, les potentialités de dépassement des différences, résistances et réalités nationales disparates dans l’Union européenne.

  The Construction of the European Area of Higher Education, 20 years after the Launch of the Bologna Process

  20 years after the signing of the Bologna Process, the time seems right to take stock of its implementation. The aim is to focus on its procedural dimension and on the organisational and/or strategic developments and responses to its implementation by the higher education institutions concerned. The focus on the Bologna Process cannot be exclusively managerial. The implementation of the Bologna Process, which is non-prescriptive, with national variations often induced by specific policies, has often encountered difficulties in terms of ownership and legitimization by actors in higher education systems, which ultimately raises the issue of the effectiveness of the Process. It is also interesting to study universities as actors and producers of discourse in relation to European integration.
