  Crossroads of Critique: Axel Honneth and the Frankfurt School Project

  Sciences Po 7th Graduate Conference in Political Theory

  We are happy to announce that the seventh annual Graduate Conference in Political Theory is going to be held in Paris on June 6-8, 2019, entitled Crossroads of Critique: Axel Honneth and the Frankfurt School Project. We welcome contributions from graduate students of political theory across the board and intend to accommodate various approaches (analytical, historical, normative, and critical) as well as contributions from related disciplines (philosophy, social theory, etc.). We also aim at geographic diversity, in that we shall try to foster a substantial academic dialogue between young political theorists from Europe and their peers across the world. Over recent years, the Sciences Po Graduate Conference has established itself as one of Europe’s foremost venues for an international exchange of ideas among graduate students in political theory.

  La fiction occupe une place de choix au sein des procédés argumentatifs et techniques qui sous-tendent le raisonnement juridique et permettent au droit d’appréhender le réel. Dans le cadre d’un projet pluriannuel portant sur « les artifices du droit », le présent colloque souhaite développer une réflexion théorique sur le renouvellement conceptuel que connaît aujourd'hui cette notion dans toutes les disciplines juridiques, autour d'une approche large rassemblant tous les aspects de la pensée juridiques (théorie, philosophie, histoire, droit public, droit privé).

  French social thought in the face of law (18th-20th century)

  Quels sont les liens que la pensée sociale française a tissé et entretenu avec les notions de droit et d'individu ? Cette journée d'étude abordera la question en tentant de cerner les effets produits par une pensée sociologique sur le droit et, inversement, les impacts de l'évolution post-révolutionnaire du droit sur la sociologie naissante. Il s'agira de reconstruire dans toutes sa complexité l'histoire de la pensée sociale française face au droit, de Saint-Simon à Gurvitch en passant par Durkheim et Duguit, des lendemains de la Révolution aux premières ébauches de l'Etat social. Nos réflexions seront guidées par l'hypothèse selon laquelle la séquence historique qui va de la critique du droit et de l'individualisme à leur réhabilitation sociologique touche à des questions qui sont aujourd'hui encore les nôtres.
