  Pratiques sexuelles et pratiques sexuées à l’âge séculier

  Tous les domaines de l’existence sont touchés par les transformations du religieux qui caractérise « l’âge séculier » (Taylor, 2011). La sexualité des individus – croyant- e-s ou non – constitue un domaine dans lequel les effets de ces mutations apparaissent particulièrement sensibles. En effet, jusqu’à une période récente, la religion (en France, principalement la religion catholique) encadrait strictement la sexualité des fidèles, à partir de rites, d’interdits ou par la mise en place et le respect d’une éthique sexuelle spécifique (Bozon, 1999 ; Flandrin, 1986 ; Maître et Michelat, 2002). De manière indirecte, elle structurait, aussi, celle des non-croyant-e-s, par l’influence du droit, notamment (Feuillet-Liger et Portier, 2012).

  The religious experience of the "disease of the soul" and its definitions in the early modern period: censorship, dissent and self-representation

  The seminar aims at exploring the different meanings of the term "melancholy" in early modern religion, both Protestant and Catholic. One of its main purposes will be to enquire into, clarify, and emphasize both elements of continuity and what was specific to each of the diverse discourses on melancholy within the historical, socio-cultural, political, geographical and linguistic contexts that framed its production.

  European Social Science History Conference 2010

  This is a call for papers for the Network Religion of the next European Social Science History Conference, which will take place at the beautiful Bijloke Site in Ghent, Belgium, from 13 to 16 April 2010. The aim of the ESSHC is bringing together scholars interested in explaining historical phenomena using the methods of the social sciences. The conference is characterized by a lively exchange in many small groups, rather than by formal plenary sessions. The conference welcomes papers and sessions on any historical topic and any historical period. It is organized in 28 networks, which cover a certain topic, on of these being Religion.

  Genre et pratiques religieuses

  Conflits, savoirs, pouvoirs

  Cette journée d’études s’inscrit dans les travaux du groupe « Genre et histoire » du Centre de recherches historiques, qui entend faire du genre un axe transversal de recherche historique. Les communications mettront au jour la dynamique des rapports sociaux de sexe dans le champ religieux à l’époque moderne et contemporaine. Dans le cadre d’une approche comparée entre périodes (moderne et contemporaine), entre pays (France, Allemagne, Espagne, Etats-Unis), et entre religions, nous interrogerons sur le sens donné par ces actrices à leurs pratiques, mais aussi sur le regard porté par l’institution et par l’historiographie sur celles-ci.
