The ERC MAP Seminar “The Names of the Gods! 5: Who named the gods? Utterers, addressers, ritual agents” pursues the investigation on the systems of naming of the divine. This year, it focuses on the human agents in the process of naming the divine, whether they are producers of a discourse on the deities, addressers in a communication with the deities, or even experts in charge of a ritual knowledge. What agency do men and women exercise in the production of a specific denomination of the divine? How can we question their choices, their anchoring in a tradition or their innovation strategies?

Logics, stakes and limits of cultural heritage transmission in Eurasia
The thematic issue is about cultural heritage and patrimonialization. It aims at comparing the varying notions of “tradition” and “safeguarding of culture” within an empirical approach.We focus on conflicts about the creation of culture and how these globalised and specific contexts shape a changing self-perception of “ethnic identity” in Northern Asia, Central Asia and Eastern Europe.The articles may be on local as well as global expressions of cultural heritage: poetical genre, engraving or wood carving, architecture, ethno-parks or ecomuseums, cultural tourism, opposition to projects of valorization, etc. Analysis may also focus on the role of actors involved in local projects, on historical contexts or on international fashions.

Cult Epithets as an Inteface between Religious Systems and Human Agency), led by Corinne Bonnet, is now accepting applications for a postdoctoral position (100%) from the 01/03/2021 at the Université Toulouse – Jean Jaurès. This call for applications is addressed, in particular, to researchers in the history of the religions of antiquity, with an excellent knowledge of ancient Greek and a good familiarity with epigraphical corpora.

Citizen education: ideals, underlying models and realities
Cet appel à communication international traite de l’éducation à la citoyenneté comme objet de recherche scientifique. Ce numéro de Recherches et éducations appelle à une véritable réflexion sur le sujet et son fondement même, dans la mesure où l'éducation à la citoyenneté n’est ni une simple discipline académique ni une simple question comportementale ou expérientielle dans le parcours scolaire des élèves de la maternelle au lycée. Elle exige donc une analyse des articulations possibles entre savoirs et valeurs, ou encore entre socialisation et développement critique fondé sur des expériences et les espaces de vie permettant un tel déploiement. Mais, comment, concevoir la formation du citoyen dans un espace scolaire sous-tendu par une relation d’autorité et avec des élèves dont la plupart sont mineurs ? Doit-on y voir seulement une préparation plus ou moins lointaine à l’exercice de la citoyenneté, fondée principalement sur la connaissance des institutions et de leur fonctionnement ?

Pratiquant une sociologie des organisations qui postule que l’atelier du créateur compose une structure en soi, fonctionnelle car réglementée par des codes énoncés ou symboliques, catégorielle puisque régie par des habitus régulant les valeurs d’échanges, agissant au singulier ou selon un système collectif quand y pénètrent, outre le « maître » : les apprentis, les disciples, la/les muses, les modèles, les amis, les commanditaires, les collectionneurs etc., on avance que l’atelier fait office d’institution culturelle première.

Second conference of young researchers into pre-Roman Italy
Du 10 au 12 mars 2021 se tiendra à Paris la deuxième édition de la rencontre des jeunes chercheurs travaillant sur l'Italie préromaine. Elle a pour thème « Dépasser la limite ». Le colloque est pluridisciplinaire. Toutes les disciplines sont bienvenues pour discuter de la limite dans toutes ces acceptions : territoriales, culturelles et idéelles. Les analyses pourront se mener à diverses échelles, de l’artefact ou du site à la région. L’ensemble du territoire italien est concerné, des régions septentrionales et intérieures à la Grande Grèce et à la Sicile en passant par la Sardaigne, les façades tyrrhéniennes et adriatiques (avec des extensions possibles vers les territoires immédiatement environnants dont la Corse). Le cadre chronologique envisagé est assez ample, du Bronze récent au Principat d’Auguste.

Ces dernières années, l'histoire du climat et la climatologie historique se sont essentiellement concentrées sur les impacts économiques et sociaux des changements climatiques de long terme, comme ceux qui se sont produits pendant l'Anomalie climatique médiévale ou le Petit âge glaciaire. Néanmoins, les préoccupations contemporaines concernant le changement climatique global ont posé de nouvelles questions urgentes aux historiens du climat : Comment les sociétés du passé ont-elles perçu les périodes de changement climatique rapide ? Dans quelle mesure ont-elles été affectées, non seulement sur le plan économique, mais aussi dans leur réflexion sur la relation entre l'homme et la nature ?

International PhD Contract 2020-2023
Full-time, 36-month-long international PhD contract at Sorbonne University (PhD program IV) within the research centre Eur'ORBEM and in partnership with the French Research Centre in Social Sciences (CEFRES) in Prague, from 1 October 2020, under the supervision of Clara Royer. The PhD thesis may be written in French or in English. PhD propositions should focus on the discourses and practices surrounding the orphan condition in literature and/or visual arts (cinema, photography, graphic arts and so forth) in the wake of the violence and demographic upheavals that characterized 20th century East-Central Europe. Because of its interdisciplinary scope, applicants with a background in social history, literary studies and/or visual arts specialized in one or several countries of East-Central Europe may apply.

La direction générale des Patrimoines du ministère de la Culture en partenariat avec le CNRS et l'Institut national du Patrimoine organise les 12 et 13 novembre 2020 un colloque sur les « nouveaux » risques pesant sur le patrimoine, entendu au sens le plus large, incluant ses dimensions matérielle, immatérielle, numérique et naturelle. Elle traitera des risques qui sont apparus ou se sont renforcés depuis le début du siècle, résultant de catastrophes naturelles ou de facteurs anthropiques − intentionnels ou non −, sur leur accélération, leur accumulation, leur convergence, ainsi que sur les réponses apportées aujourd’hui par la communauté des professionnels et plus largement, par l’ensemble des acteurs du patrimoine culturel.
