Rural Archeology and Rural History (Middle Ages – Modern era)

2nd Rural History Summer School

“Rural Archaeology and Rural History – Middle Ages – Modern era” The theme chosen for this 2013 edition of the Rural History Summer School will allow us to consider the relationship between rural archeology and history. More than the oppositions, it seems it is the relationships, the combinations and the intertwining of disciplines, that need to be questioned through the different scientific traditions in Europe (England, Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy). This European overview will be the major focus of this 2013 summer school. The emphasis will also be put on the recent development of post-medieval archaeology, practiced in England and Italy for example, but still embryonic in several European countries. The interrogations will dwell on rescue and commercial Archeology and on its methods and results.

Trente ans d’études lotharingiennes (1980-2010). Bilan historiographique et cartographique

XVIIes Journées lotharingiennes

Ce colloque aura un agenda à la fois analytique et prospectif car il visera à établir un bilan général des études consacrées à l’espace lotharingien médiéval au cours des Journées d’études tenues à Luxembourg depuis 1980. L’établissement de ce bilan permettra d’une part de développer les futurs programmes de recherches consacrés à la Lotharingie au sein de l’Université du Luxembourg, et de l’autre d’initier et de renforcer des collaborations avec des chercheurs issus d’universités concernées par l’étude de l’espace lotharingien. Ce colloque réunira également des chercheurs particulièrement à une étape précoce de leur carrière afin de réagir aux résultats présentés par les orateurs. Des chercheurs établis présideront les séances et prendront également part aux discussions.
