  La thématique retenue cette année – « Circulation des savoirs et dynamiques économiques aux époques médiévale et moderne : mobilités des hommes, transferts techniques et enjeux territoriaux » est à la croisée de l’histoire culturelle et de l’histoire économique. Cette thématique permettra également de poursuivre et d’approfondir celles qui ont été développées les années précédentes (la valeur des choses, la pauvreté, les biens communs, les moyens de paiement, la qualité, l’organisation du travail, les écritures de l’économie, entreprendre).

  Aedificare journal special issue

  Ce numéro thématique d’Æedificare se propose d’éclairer la figure de l’entrepreneur sur une longue période, allant du Moyen Âge au XX^e siècle. De quoi parlons-nous quand nous parlons d’entrepreneur ? L’entrepreneur du XVIII^e siècle, correspond-il à ce que les historiens du Moyen Âge désignent sous le même nom ? Comment s’articulent la notion moderne d’entrepreneur et les catégories anciennes d'« entrepreneur de bâtiment », d’« entrepreneur expert » et d’« entrepreneur ingénieur » des périodes dites moderne et contemporaine ?

  Work organization in Medieval and Modern periods

  6th summer school of economic history

  The topic of the the sixth economic history summer school will enable us to continue and deepen the themes developed over the past few years (the value of things, poverty, common goods, means of payment and quality). While work involves acting on material things, its organization implies a reflection on the property of things, the relationships with time, discipline, control and know-how. On the part of governments, it also requires information that makes it possible to reflect on the state of economic life as well as on all the conflicts endemic to society, to be able to work out legal and practical devices that are necessary for the constitution of a particular knowledge. It also finally questions issues around technical training and the command of various forms of know-how, in contexts that sometimes place some rival systems in a competing situation.

  Precious metals in the medieval Mediterranean

  Mining, processing and circulations

  Silver on one side, gold on the other? The medieval Mediterranean was an area in which precious metals were produced and circulated, intertwining three worlds, both friends and foes: Roman Christianity to the West, byzantine Christianity to the East, and Islam to the South. Precious metals (gold, silver, copper and lead), at the origin of numerous objects of the material culture and currencies used by the economies, filled the societies. They were mined, processed, commercialised, controlled and hoarded by a wide variety of stakeholders and institutions, from simple peasants to emperors.

  Le Centre d’histoire des techniques de l’université Paris 1 (CH2ST-EA 127) lance cette année les premières journées d’études du centre. Deux journées d’études par an sont ainsi prévues à Paris, organisées tour à tour par un pôle différent du centre : Culture technique, Armement, Construction, Patrimoine industriel, Hydraulique.
