« Genre et protection sociale dans les pays en développement : enjeux, défis et opportunités »
Ce colloque international sur le thème « Genre et Protection Sociale : Enjeux, Défis et Opportunités » vise à analyser les interactions entre protection sociale et égalité des genres dans les pays en développement. Il entend explorer, à travers une approche pluridisciplinaire et comparative, comment les politiques et programmes de protection sociale peuvent atténuer ou renforcer les inégalités de genre. Réunissant chercheur·e·s, praticien·ne·s et décideur·euse·s, l’événement ambitionne d’identifier les défis, de partager des bonnes pratiques et de formuler des recommandations pour une protection sociale plus inclusive et équitable.

Social Changes in Contemporary Southeast Asia
Exploring New Forms of Labour Regimes
As social, ethnic or religious, identity or position in the political hierarchy is more often pronounced in Southeast Asian societies, labour is rarely at the centre. In particular, labour does not often appear to be at the root of the formation of inequalities. In reality, the labour factor - including migrant labour - clearly fuels the regional dynamics of growth, and enables trade specialisation just as its mobilisation has, in the colonial past, enabled insertion into the international division of labour. This conference seeks to bring labour back in at the centre of the analysis. Offering a rare opportunity to pay tribute to the main oeuvres and pioneering authors in the field in Southeast Asia, it will open space to recent ongoing research on social changes with respect to labour relations, working conditions, labour norms, and wages.

Indonesian Exceptionalism: Values and Morals of the Middle Ground
‘Exceptionalism’ is a borrowed political term that implies that a country or entity is somehow special. Indonesia is not small. Indonesia is not poor in cultures, religions, society, or ethnic groups. Indonesia is not unimportant economically, regionally, or politically. Historically, Indonesia has always been an exceptional place. Indonesia as ‘imagined community’ continues to be an ongoing process. Various questions that can be raised include: What are relevant Indonesian values and morals for maintaining Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global world? What is religion’s contribution to forming agreed values and ethics? To what extent is there an Indonesian contribution in balancing Islamic values and democratic practices? How do religious values impact the ethics of state governance?

Bourses de terrain en Asie du Sud-Est – 2016
Aide à la recherche et à la publication
L’Irasec, Institut de recherche sur l’Asie du Sud-Est contemporaine dont le siège est à Bangkok, met à concours deux bourses couplant aide à la recherche et aide à la publication. S’adressant en priorité à des doctorants en fin de thèse et à des postdoctorants, ces bourses sont destinées à reprendre des premières enquêtes de terrain en vue d’approfondir des recherches déjà engagées (chapitres de thèse etc.). Les problématiques doivent apporter une perspective originale et novatrice sur l’Asie du Sud-Est, relevant des champs disciplinaires suivants : sciences politiques, sciences économiques, sciences sociales (anthropologie, sociologie, géographie, histoire contemporaine).

Séminaire général du centre d'Asie du Sud-Est
En croisant approches historiques, anthropologiques, sociologiques, géographiques et économiques, ce séminaire s’attachera à mettre en évidence les permanences dans les différentes manières de faire société en Asie du Sud-Est. Il s’emploiera également à interroger les mutations (colonisation, exode rural, développement économique, émergence de nouvelles classes...) qu’ont connues ou connaissent les différents groupes sociaux et à repérer ruptures communes ou au contraire évolutions singulières dans la région.

Like other regions of the world, South-East Asia has, since the mid-1980s, seen the rise of a new “spirit of capitalism”, linked to the growth of a middle class. Various religious mass-organizations have developed new discourses on wealth and innovative techniques of financing. At their helm, we often find charismatic figures who are responding to the demands of those in search of meaning in an increasingly de-structured modern urban life setting. In doing so, these actors operate on a “spiritual marketplace” characterized by great fluidity and competition. This conference is to look at the different ways through which tensions between religious ethics and economic rationalization are negotiated, both ideologically and institutionally.
