    Économie politique et fiscalité dans l’Orient hellénistique et romain

    Le projet de cette journée serait de faire dialoguer des historiens, philologues, papyrologues, épigraphistes et archéologues spécialistes d’économie et de fiscalité antiques afin de découvrir comment ces deux disciplines pourraient plus étroitement travailler ensemble et mettre en commun leurs savoir-faire techniques et théoriques.

    Liv­ing un­der Em­pires: A View from Be­low

    What have Meso­pot­amian Em­pires ever done for their people? Track­ing the macro in the mi­cro

    In this workshop, we aim to take the view from below and investigate in what way imperial dynamics may have affected the lifeways of people in their territories. The basic questions of this workshop are: How did the empires of the Ancient Near East affect the lives of ordinary people in their realm?  To which extent was rural life and life in smaller towns permeated by imperial agents and policies, hence by imperial dynamics?

    Europe and the Arabian Peninsula (19th-21th centuries)

    This international workshop will deal with the relations between Europe and the Arabian Peninsula in the Modern Era, from the beginnings of globalization until the most recent economic and strategic developments. In order to study both the evolution and the contents of such relations, two main topics will be given a more particular interest: Cultural and Scientific Relations in connection with the change of mutual understanding from the 19th to the 21th century; Evolution of Economic relations from the 19th to the 21th century.

    Compte tenu des évènements récents, qui ont secoué et continuent de secouer certains pays arabes, il a paru nécessaire de s’intéresser à l’évolution (passée et future, à court terme, mais aussi à long terme) de certains des aspects du statut et de la condition des femmes du Maghreb, du Machrek et de la péninsule Arabique. Ce colloque permettra d’entendre des spécialistes et des professionnels d’horizons et d’origines divers, venus des deux « rives » de la Méditerranée, toutes et tous spécialistes dans leurs champs de réflexion ou d’action respectifs (droit, science politique, économie, sociologie, culture,…).
