  Social justice and decent work, the International Labour Organisation in action: centenary conference

  This scientific and multidisciplinary symposium proposes to study the ILO by considering it as a part of broader institutional system whose primary goal is to create the conditions for universal peace and social justice.Therefore, the ILO has formulated and followed ideals of social reform while remaining pragmatic on specific questions and adapting itself to a changing geopolitical environment.

  Welfare and social government (2018-2019)

  Dans la continuité des journées d’étude Enquêter sur la bienfaisance : approches comparatives des pratiques du bien, notre équipe composée d’anthropologues, de sociologues et de politistes a souhaité, en proposant ce séminaire, prolonger la réflexion sur les recompositions contemporaines du gouvernement du social au prisme de la « bienfaisance » et des pratiques du « bien ». Pour l’année 2018/2019, ce séminaire pluridisciplinaire ouvert à tou·te·s s’organisera autour de quatre séances permettant la discussion de travaux finalisés ou en cours, l’approfondissement de notions et la discussion avec des chercheur-e-s invité·e·s. Ce cycle se conclura par la tenue au printemps 2019 d’une journée d’étude.

  Social Rights and Democracy

  We are especially interested in manuscripts on social rights and democracy. Our intent is to prepare a set of discussions on how democracies promote social rights today, i.e., to what extent social movements, legal institutions, parliaments and executive power are able to find solutions to the challenges of democracies today? Have, for example, affirmative action, housing and health care programs, and even direct financial assistance to the poor actually reduced inequality? In addition, what are the most effective solutions for poverty? Are courts the best way to ensure social rights today? We are also interested in papers that address the costs of social programs. These are some of the possibilities, but many other questions may be brought to the table. We encourage submissions based on historical approaches carried out by jurists, political scientists, historians, sociologists, and other professionals in fields that have particular focus on legal problems.

  Le terme « professionnalisation » renvoie à la fois au processus historique d’autonomisation des professions établies, aux luttes pour faire reconnaître le caractère professionnel d’une occupation ou encore au processus individuel et/ou collectif d’acquisition de compétences et de connaissances spécifiques à une activité. Ainsi, « le consensus lexical n’entame pas, bien au contraire, le dissensus sémantique » et il paraît nécessaire de poursuivre le travail déjà entamé de mise en objet de cette notion. En l’occurrence, cette journée d’étude propose d’interroger la professionnalisation au croisement de la sociologie et de la science politique, et plus précisément, au prisme des logiques de pouvoir qui lui sont consubstantielles.

  Dans le cadre d'un programme de recherches pluriannuel portant sur les organisations patronales en Europe (XIX-XXe siècles), un nouveau colloque est organisé les 21 et 22 juin 2012. Il s'agira de réfléchir aux manières dont les organisations patronales agissent dans des configurations institutionnelles qui contraignent leurs structures et leur développement, et d'examiner comment elles peuvent, à l’inverse, tenter de modifier l’environnement dans lequel opèrent leurs adhérents afin de l’aménager.
