  How are norms challenged by disabilities?

  This 9^th conference aims to discuss the construction of normality and, more broadly, the system of thought that structures our societies in which being “able” is the norm in the sense of both the most widespread and the most desirable situation. The aim of this critical perspective is therefore to highlight how our societies are structured in relation to the notion of the able individual. While the recent call to build inclusive societies would appear to herald a radical turning point, what is the reality? Have we truly finished with representations of disability that tend towards the negative, the defective or even the tragic? To what extend are the “heroized” figures of disability, omnipresent in the public space, perpetrating the representation of disability as a deviation from the norm?

  The commitment of immigrant descendants - citizenship without borders?

  Àl’heure où l’on brosse très souvent le portrait pessimiste d’une jeunesse désabusée, désengagée, apolitique et individualiste, la question de l’engagement des jeunes n’a paradoxalement jamais été si présente dans le débat public. Les travaux de recherche sur le sujet se multiplient également depuis quelques années. Mais à y regarder de plus près, rares sont les études qui se penchent plus précisément sur les pratiques d’engagement des jeunes issus de l’immigration. Le 20 juin prochain, l’Institut national de la jeunesse et de l’éducation populaire (INJEP) organise une conférence-débat, en partenariat avec l’Institut français des relations internationales (IFRI) sur cette thématique d’actualité.

  Le Réseau international sur le processus de production du handicap (RIPPH) organise, le 20 novembre prochain, son colloque annuel sous la thématique « Milieux urbains, politiques municipales et personnes ayant des incapacités ». Cet événement aura lieu à l'auditorium de l'Institut de réadaptation en déficience physique de Québec (525, Boulevard Wilfrid Hamel-Est, Québec, Canada).
