  Insularities and enclaves in colonial and post-colonial circumstances

  Crossings, conflicts and identitarian constructions (15th - 21st centuries)

  Historically, archipelagos were considered as rehearsal spaces for new social constructions. Since colonization and, afterwards, colonialism and imperialism, many of them evolved in association with the strengthening of international networks, while others did not escape isolation and forced unequal integration in different spaces. On the other hand, enclaves were the outcome of historical circumstances, often externally decided, which prompted some degree of insularity regarding the immediate geographical surroundings. When those territories did not become independent, there were demands for autonomy or, at least, some underlying emancipatory and anti-colonialist feelings. Even when these feelings did not mobilize relevant segments of the population, they disclose the alterity – above all cultural – in regard to sovereignty.

  Familias y redes sociales : etnicidad, movilidad y marginalidad en el mundo atlántico

  La familia como institución socio-cultural se halla en proceso de crisis, situación que viene acarreando desde tiempos pretéritos y que la convierten en objeto de estudio no solo histórico sino también antropológico, sociológico, demográfico, jurídico y económico. Procesos de perpetuidad y cambio forman parte de una realidad compleja y polifacética. Analizar la movilidad social, étnica, económica y geográfica de los individuos y de sus grupos domésticos nos introduce en un intrincado universo de sentimientos, conflictos, anhelos y realidades. Este encuentro académico pretende analizar la realidad familiar desde múltiples ópticas con el objetivo de comprender la heterogeneidad social americana e indagar en conductas y comportamientos culturalmente difundidos y aceptados, pero también acercarse a la transgresión de los modelos establecidos. Amancebamiento, concubinato, barraganía ilegitimidad, violencia doméstica, procesos de movilidad socio-étnica, movimientos migratorios y redes clientelares dan muestra de un mosaico socio-cultural digno de ser indagado.
