  The second conference organized by the Research Center of Global Education and Culture of Yeditepe University will be conducted on the theme “International Migration in the XXI^st century” with the participation of academicians and international migration specialists.   Contemporary crisis and changes

  Geoeconomical and geopolitical approaches

  For several years, the world seems to have entered a period of high instability. Economically, the "subprime mortgage crisis" appeared in 2007 in the USA, then spread planet wide in all areas of activity. In 2015, economic difficulties persist (growth stagnation in developed countries and lower growth in emerging markets, explosion of unemployment, deindustrialisation and offshoring, market tensions in China, the euro zone, etc.). In geopolitical terms, tension spots have also multiplied (Saharian and Sahelian Africa, Middle East, Far East and Eastern Europe) leading to strong migratory waves while power poles seem to be redeploying between the USA, China and other regional powers.The aim of the conference "Contemporary Crisis and changes" is to question these contemporary upheavals through both a geo-economic and a geopolitical reading. The conference will provide elements of analysis and compare them especially with contemporary representations of globalisation emphasizing in particular the logic of closure that seems to characterize this phenomenon.

  La revue Maghreb / Machrek consacre un numéro spécial aux agricultures du Maghreb / Machrek à l’épreuve de la crise alimentaire et des révolutions arabes. Des contributions inscrites dans une diversité de disciplines (histoire, géographie, sociologie, économie, sciences politiques, etc.) sont sollicitées, en particulier sur les thèmes suivants : les transformations des sociétés rurales et des économies agricoles ; les origines rurales et agricoles des révolutions arabes ; l’organisation professionnelle du monde agricole ; l’agriculture et le développement territorial ; les formes alternatives de valorisation de l’espace agricole ; les défis environnementaux de l’agriculture ; le développement agricole et la sécurité alimentaire dans le monde arabe.
