  Left-wing radicalism in the United States: a foreign creed?

  Special Issue, “Transatlantica” (journal of American Studies)

  This Transatlantica issue will analyze the way in which the construction of radicalism as foreign to US-American identity was received by radicals themselves, to see how they reacted to the branding of their beliefs as un-American, and how they devised counter-discourses in order to Americanize their ideas, sometimes leading to conflict and contradiction. How can the language of patriotism be combined with a belief in internationalism ? What coalitions, what political alliances can be built while maintaining a revolutionary stance ? How can the class struggle be rooted in a discourse on US-American society without succumbing to the sirens of exceptionalism ?

  Ce colloque interdisciplinaire propose de réunir philosophes, juristes, historien-ne-s sociologues et économistes pour analyser les sources, les fondements et les possibiles évolutions des normes du droit du travail et du droit social en France. Il s'organise en quatre sessions réparties sur deux journées, qui abordent les questions de l'émergence du développement du modèle français du droit du travail, des normes du droit du travail aujourd'hui, du statut juridique de l'entreprise, des enjeux normatifs des réformes récentes ou à venir du droit du travail.

  After Lisbon 2011, the second International Conference Strikes and Social Conflicts will be held at the Maison des sciences de l’homme in Dijon (15-17 May 2013). The conference aims to open new avenues for thinking about social conflicts in a multidisciplinary and global perspective. The proliferation of conflicts all over the world today and the profound redefinition of practices in the era of globalization calls for changing perspectives, for an international opening of our horizons and for precise examination of the diversity of practices and imaginaries mobilized by the protagonists.

  International Symposium Ways and Means of Trade and Business Organizations in the Public Sphere

  Europe – 19 th-20th Centuries

  Le programme de recherche sur les organisations patronales (2010-2014) porte sur un sujet partiellement exploré. En effet, des juristes dès la fin du XIXe siècle, plus récemment des politistes, des économistes (économie des organisations) et des sociologues (sociologie des organisations) ont analysé des aspects particuliers de cette question: sociabilité des élites, groupes de pression, action collective des élites économiques, etc.. Des historiens se sont intéressés à l’histoire de l’entreprise, des politiques économiques et des institutions économiques. Des études internationales ont été menées sur la représentation patronale, sur les pratiques de gestion de main-d’œuvre. Mais l’étude historique des organisations patronales en tant qu’organisation, de plus dans une perspective comparative au niveau européen, reste un terrain encore relativement vierge, mis à part quelques recherches récentes.
