  Revolution, Subversion and Emancipation from the Late Eighteenth Century to the Present Day

  Cultural Journals in the World

  The colloquium "Cultural Journals in the World": Revolution, Subversion and Emancipation from the Late Eighteenth Century to the Present Day aims to present papers dedicated to this internationally critical space that at one time or another in its history has been connected to the artistic and intellectual European spheres or, conversely, has been marked by a transnational tendency, and to its genealogy. This colloquium is part of the project “Global art and cultural periodicals” dedicated to the cataloguing, the study, and the promotion of the non-European periodicals, from before the colonial empires until today. An open access periodical database created within the frame of this project will be presented at the Colloquium opening.

  The Sequence of the looker

  Forms, histories and the functions of illustration through the prism of sequentiality

  Le colloque La Séquence du regardeur marque la deuxième édition de nos rendez-vous strasbourgeois et fait suite au colloque De Traits et d’esprit qui s’est tenu en 2011 et dont les actes paraissent à la veille de ce nouveau rendez-vous. Nous nous proposons d’explorer à nouveau l’illustration dans ses histoires, ses formes, ses usages et dans une acception étendue à la bande dessinée (mais pas uniquement). La manifestation propose d’alterner les communications scientifiques des chercheurs invités avec des rencontres plus informelles entre une personnalité du monde des arts et un illustrateur tout en ponctuant les travaux de propositions plastiques, d’une performance dessinée et de la présentation d’éditions illustrées produites par la nouvelle vague de jeunes illustrateurs.
