  History and polemics: historiographical debates and the public space

  Ever since history became an academic knowledge, historiographical debates have been exceptional moments of construction, condensation and dissensus, often resulting in historiographical turns. Controversies around specific themes have divided entire fields of knowledge production, bringing into light different, often contrasting conceptions, methodologies and practices of historical knowledge. Such debates were, at the same time, moments in which the description and interpretation of the past represented a public intervention in the present, in which the defense of a certain way of making sense of history was also a way of taking of sides in a specific contemporary political discussion. Historiographical polemics were therefore moments in which historiographical knowledge had to confront in the public space other approaches to the past, thus making visible, and challenging, the paradigms that rule the historical discipline and public history.

  Critical discourse in art and design - practices and contemporary issues

  Pratiques et enjeux contemporains

  La critique fait aujourd’hui l’objet de nombreuses études, colloques et publications qui prennent pour objet ce discours particulier et qui participent d’un renouvellement de l’histoire de l’art. On s’intéresse également à ces espaces traditionnels de diffusion que sont les revues. En France, les Archives de la critique d’art sont un acteur important du développement de ce champ de recherche. On pourrait faire deux hypothèses pour expliquer cet intérêt en regard de la situation contemporaine de la critique. Tout d’abord, il serait inversement proportionnel à son affaiblissement. Ne serions-nous pas passés du geste critique à celui de la communication qui rend cette écriture totalement accessoire ?

  Revolution, Subversion and Emancipation from the Late Eighteenth Century to the Present Day

  Cultural Journals in the World

  The colloquium "Cultural Journals in the World": Revolution, Subversion and Emancipation from the Late Eighteenth Century to the Present Day aims to present papers dedicated to this internationally critical space that at one time or another in its history has been connected to the artistic and intellectual European spheres or, conversely, has been marked by a transnational tendency, and to its genealogy. This colloquium is part of the project “Global art and cultural periodicals” dedicated to the cataloguing, the study, and the promotion of the non-European periodicals, from before the colonial empires until today. An open access periodical database created within the frame of this project will be presented at the Colloquium opening.

  Volet 3. Les revues dans le monde : des contradictions de la modernité à la Grande Guerre

  « Global art and cultural periodicals » est un projet consacré au recensement et à l’étude des périodiques des empires coloniaux à nos jours. Il traite des dynamiques historiques et critiques qui, par l’exercice de la revue, sont développées et se développent à l’échelle mondiale. Envisageant le rôle matriciel du périodique à la fois comme laboratoire d’expérimentation et lieu d’archivage d’une pensée en gestation, il donnera lieu à un colloque international en novembre 2017, lui-même précédé de quatre temps forts sous la forme de journées d’études.

  Linguistic ideologies in the written press (ILPE 3) - the example of romance languages

  L'exemple des langues romanes

  Ce colloque s'intéresse à la presse écrite (imprimée et numérique) comme lieu de production et de diffusion d’idéologies linguistiques et comme moyen de standardisation de la langue. Le thème de la langue revêt indubitablement un intérêt particulier pour toute communauté linguistique. En raison des liens étroits qui existent entre les locuteurs et les contextes dans lesquels ils évoluent, la langue donne lieu à des débats et des polémiques variés. En plus de se traduire par des questions concernant la norme et la correction de la langue, l’usage ou encore l’histoire des mots, les préoccupations s’étendent aux enjeux liés aux politiques linguistiques et à leurs effets sur les pratiques langagières des locuteurs.
