Advances and challenges of NLP (Natural Language Processing) for african languages
How far have we come?
This workshop will bring together NTeALan’s large community of members living in Cameroon and abroad, invited researchers, partners and other members of the scientific community. This workshop aims at bringing together professionals, researchers and experts in African languages and Natural Language Processing (NLP), whose research work focuses on machine learning techniques and electronic lexicography applied to NLP and language pedagogy/didactics. We will also discuss the main challenges that arise in this context for the constitution of corpora in African languages. We will define possible directions for future progress.

Nebulx apt get fict -404 () project is about the ways in which lives, human and non-humanalike, are entangled with contemporary technologies, and tries to(re)define care consequently. We offer to create a digital journal developing experimental writing modes in order to explore narrative, descriptive and speculative possibilities about contemporary technologies. We encourage the fictionalization of non-fictional materials and/or fieldwork materials (archives, interviews, testimonies, field notes, diaries).

5th International "Language and Territory" Colloquium
This multidisciplinary colloquium will discuss the different ways that languages and territories are linked, and will show the political, social and economic stakes that arise from the relationships between them. Above all, these terms refer to men and women with their social practices and representations, at the core of the logic of territoriality. New territories give rise to new language practices, which, in turn, create new spaces, discourse and meaning. The "boundaries" we draw between languages and territories are permeable in time and space, depending on factors such as population displacement, language policies, linguistic and social representations, education, mass media and socio-cultural values.

Session at The Renaissance Society of America Annual Meeting 2021
This panel aims to bring together coordinators of digital projects - completed or in progress - around the lexicon and the scientific edition of texts of artistic or technical literature, with researchers who have adopted this terminological approach to analyze in an innovative way well known or unpublished texts, related to the production, the practice of the arts and interpretative theories derived from practice and which marked the history of taste. The papers will aim to provoke discussions about the method, contributions and perspectives of the lexicographic approach in the artistic field, in an interdisciplinary logic, in order to federate language historians, digital humanities specialists and art historians.

Intersections. New perspectives for public humanities
HFC-INT 2020
The international network Humanities for Change, in accordance with the interdisciplinary spirit and the contaminatory approach that characterize its activities, intends to organize a day of study on the theme of public humanities. The meeting aims to stimulate some reflections coming from different fields of knowledge and to encourage the dialogue between researchers on the possibilities of the humanities to escape from academic circles. In this sense, the main object of study is the analysis of methodologies and tools related to knowledge dissemination practices for historical, artistic and philological-literary disciplines. Particular attention will also be given to new professional figures connected to the degree courses of the humanities faculties (such as the 'public historian') and to the interactions of these professional figures with the new media of communication and mass dissemination.

Critic is an innovative scholarly journal which covers a wide range of interesting topics, from literary translation to audiovisual and multimedia translation through language technologies, translator training, conference and community interpreting, and intercultural communication. The journal is interested in anything related to languages, translation, culture, and multilingual communication. Published annually, it includes articles and book reviews spanning through the whole translation studies spectrum.

Eschatology is one of the central components of medieval Christian culture. The end of the world, the Last Judgment, salvation, Messianism, the Antichrist, the Apocalypticism and millenarianism are inescapable elements in what we may generally describe as "Medieval eschatology". It is the intention of the International Conference "The Medieval Eschatology" to provide a venue for reflecting on these as well as other eschatological issues that may be proposed. This can be done analytically or descriptively from both a practical and theoretical approach.

The audiovisual archives of literature
L’audiovisuel fait aujourd’hui partie intégrante du patrimoine littéraire. Si la place des sources sonores et filmiques reste marginale dans les archives littéraires, ces documents représentent une part considérable et grandissante de la mémoire du passé littéraire. Des institutions telles que le Centre d’archives Gaston-Miron (CAGM) à Montréal, les Archives et Musée de la littérature (AML) à Bruxelles, les Archives littéraires suisses (ALS) ou l’Institut Mémoires de l’édition contemporaine (IMEC) en conservent chacune un nombre qui se chiffre en milliers, en majeure partie numérisés.

Revue en ligne « Appareil »
La revue en ligne Appareil lance un appel à contributions autour de la traduction des textes fondamentaux du design. Le dossier, dirigé par Catherine Chomarat-Ruiz, entend réunir des articles variés qui présenteront des études de cas, interrogeront l’impact des logiciels de traduction aux prises avec les théories du design, participeront à l’état des lieux de l’édition « savante » dans ce champ, examineront l’hypothèse de la traduction comme paradigme du design. L’enjeu de ce dossier thématique est de comprendre dans quelle mesure la traduction fonctionne comme appareil, c’est-à-dire configure la manière dont existent le design et ses sources théoriques.

Cette journée d'étude vise à regrouper des chercheurs travaillant dans différents domaines afin d’enrichir la réflexion et susciter les échanges autour des relations entre deux notions souvent perçues comme (injustement ?) contradictoires : sciences et fiction. En effet, ces deux domaines « sciences » et « fiction » entretiennent en réalité des liens particulièrement étroits puisque l’un a souvent influencé l’autre. Il convient donc par conséquent de réunir les chercheurs en sciences, sciences de la technologie et de la santé (biologie, médecine, informatique, etc.) et sciences humaines et sociales (histoire, littérature, cinéma, télévision, théâtre, langues, sociologie, philosophie, etc.), ainsi que les chercheurs travaillant à la croisée de plusieurs disciplines, afin d’interroger à nouveau l’imbrication de ces deux notions. Dans quelle mesure les sciences ont-elles influencé, et continuent-elles à influencer la fiction et inversement ? Comment définir la science-fiction ?

From postmodernism to posthumanism. Latin-American literature and cinema
Suite à la journée d’étude « Le temps du posthumain ? » qui s’est tenue à l’université Paris Diderot-Paris 7 et à Bétonsalon – Centre d’art et de recherche le 2 juin 2017, il s’agit de poursuivre la réflexion autour du posthumanisme et ses représentations littéraires et cinématographiques, cette fois-ci en Amérique latine.
Initialement programmée le 4 juin de cette année, la journée consacrée à la question « Du postmodernisme au posthumanisme. Littérature et cinéma latino-américains » est reportée et sera accompagnée par une autre journée sur le même sujet mais sans les limites géographiques et chronologiques. Le présent appel concerne cette dernière journée. Le colloque aura lieu les 27 et 28 novembre 2020.

Pagaille journal - call for submissions for the second issue
Pagaille est une revue numérique biannuelle indépendante de littératures et médias comparés, fondée par des chercheuses et chercheurs en littératures comparées. Elle a pour objectif de promouvoir l’approche comparatiste dans le champ des sciences humaines et sociales. Comme son nom l’indique, la revue entend explorer des champs particulièrement riches de la recherche actuelle, des espaces intellectuels en pagaille au sein desquels le comparatisme entend se frayer un chemin et apporter un éclairage spécifique. À ce titre, les démarches inter-, intra-, et transmédiales ont toute leur place dans la revue. Le second numéro de la revue est consacré à la question des humanités numériques.

Ancient and contemporary press in the digital age
Médias 19 – Numapresse congress
Le projet scientifique franco-québécois Médias 19, articulé autour de la plateforme numérique www.medias19.org, a été le cadre de développement d’une réflexion, depuis 2011, sur les pratiques journalistiques au XIXe siècle, sur la valorisation et l’analyse des corpus, ainsi que sur l’étude du développement de la culture médiatique dans l’espace francophone. Depuis 2017, le projet scientifique international Numapresse , ambitionne de proposer une nouvelle histoire culturelle et littéraire de la presse française, du XIXe siècle à nos jours, en mobilisant les grands corpus de presse numérisés et les nouveaux outils de text et data mining. Ce congrès, organisé est l’occasion de convier les chercheurs à faire état de la recherche actuelle.

The main focus of this conference will be translation as process, rather than as a mere product, which will prompt us to apprehend translated works as belonging to one or several networks, contexts and translational cultures. In short, translation is a concept that throws new light onto the exchanges and differences pertaining to contemporary digital literary culture. Contemporary digital literary culture mobilizes multiple operations: it involves translation across languages, but includes circulations characteristic of other translational issues at large: exchanges between interfaces, media, codes, institutions, cultural perspectives, artistic and archiving practices. In turn, digital forms of textuality share a certain number of aspects within ubiquitous environments, which means that translational processes will lead us to consider creative practices that stand beyond the traditional field of literature.
