Médiation, participation et valorisation numérique des mémoires et patrimoines
Le FabPart Lab explore et met en œuvre la fabrique de la participation au sein du laboratoire d'excellence (Labex) « Les passés dans le présent ». Il est un lieu de rencontre, d’échange et d’expérimentation autour de la participation, de la médiation et de la valorisation numériques des mémoires et des patrimoines dans le cadre du Labex et plus largement au sein de monde académique et professionnel de la culture. Les activités du FabPart Lab visent à construire une réflexivité autour de toutes les phases d’un projet : conception, collecte des données, modélisation et documentation, traitement, valorisation et diffusion.

Heritages values of 20th century architecture: what recognition?
Critical review and international forward-looking vision
The heritage values of 20th century architecture, whether they be cultural, social or technical, remain relatively complex to assess, and thus to share, due to lack of perspective and knowledge. The architectural and urban production of the second half of the 20th century was particularly prolific, sometimes remarkable, even exceptional. The energy, ecological transition, the changing habits and lifestyles are leading to the gradual transformation of this built heritage reaching to the end of its life cycle. Since the 1990-2000’s, a movement for heritage making has developed, which leads to many questions relating to possible and desirable developments of these architectural achievements. This issue of In Situ seeks to take a European or international critical perspective on the architecture of the 20th century and to highlight doctrines and positions adopted, practices and examples of schemes, policies or projects.

Cette journée d'étude a pour but de réunir des chercheurs et des praticiens du parfum s’interrogeant sur la matérialité du parfum. Elle proposera une approche pluridisciplinaire du rôle du parfum et de ses utilisation, de l’histoire du parfumeur et de son métier et du rôle du designer et des nouveaux matériaux utilisés, à travers les interventions de spécialistes d’horizons divers : historiens, philosophes, anthropologues, parfumeurs et designers. L’approche pluridisciplinaire apportera des visions multiples et nuancées des contours du design olfactif.

Moving heaven and earth. LiDAR's contribution to archaeology
Stakes, methods and case studies in the Grand Est and peripheral regions
Dans l’Est de la France, la cartographie LiDAR a été utilisée à de nombreuses reprises. La dernière en date, a été réalisée sur un massif forestier du versant lorrain du massif vosgien, entre Remiremont et Epinal, dans le cadre du projet de recherche AGER (Archéologie et Géoarchéologie du premier Remiremont et de ses abords). Elle visait, en s'adossant aux méthodes archéogéographiques, à mesurer l’impact qu’eut l’abbaye de Remiremont, fondée au VIIe siècle, sur la gestion du sol et l’évolution du paysage, dans un environnement de moyenne montagne, sans rien négliger des aménagements humains antérieurs et postérieurs à cette période. Au terme de trois années de recherche, une restitution publique fera le point sur l’état d’avancement du projet dans le cadre des manifestations scientifiques et culturelles organisées pour la célébration du 1400e anniversaire de la fondation de Remiremont. Ce colloque, sera également l’occasion d’un bilan sur l’apport du LiDAR dans la recherche archéologique du Grand Est et de ses régions et pays limitrophes - enjeux, méthodologie, études de cas - en privilégiant, par souci de comparaison, des interventions de chercheurs travaillant dans des secteurs au relief contrasté.

Fair Heritage: Digital Methods, Scholarly Editing and Tools for Cultural and Natural Heritage
The purpose of the conference is to bring together multiple research communities and stakeholders working with Open Science and FAIR principles in the context of heritage studies. As advocated by the European Commission, FAIR principles play a decisive role to define guidelines and valuable tools for managing data in robust ways. We are particularly interested in research questions addressing both methodological and application challenges emerging from data management practices (e.g., data modeling, sharing, integration, analysis, etc.). The conference will provide guidance and ensure the sustainability and implementation of the FAIR model in the context of the European Open Science Cloud. For this purpose to be achieved, the conference will host practical sessions where participants can familiarize with existing methods and tools, and can present their own applications.

The conference will address issues surrounding the display of objects in a variety of museums and collections.

Le laboratoire Eau et Ouvrages dans Leur Environnement (EOLE), de la faculté de technologie de l’université de Tlemcen (Algérie), organise du 9 au 11 juin 2020, conjointement avec l’AFHC de Paris et le concours du centre des arts et des expositions (CAREX), le quatrième congrès francophone d’histoire de la construction (4CFHC). Researching heritage and digital tools and the challenge of experimentation
Young researchers study day at the "Digital technology and heritage" research platform
Depuis une vingtaine d’années, les technologies du numérique se sont imposées dans l’étude du patrimoine, qu’il soit bâti, archéologique, muséal ou écrit, matériel ou immatériel..., invitant les chercheurs à redéfinir leurs méthodes et leurs stratégies et les laboratoires à investir dans l’équipement et la formation. En plus de constituer un terrain propice à la coopération entre chercheurs de disciplines différentes, ces technologies sont désormais au cœur des projets de valorisation et de conservation du patrimoine. Cette journée d’étude a pour objectif de permettre à ces jeunes chercheurs – qu’ils soient établis dans la région Hauts-de-France ou non – de présenter leurs travaux en cours à l’occasion d’échanges et de débats sur l’apport et les perspectives qu’offrent ces outils à la recherche dans les domaines des sciences du numériques et du patrimoine.

La prochaine livraison de la revue Culture & Musées portera sur la relation réciproque entre émotion et exposition, au cours des visites de musées d’art, de sciences et société, de mémoriaux et de sites patrimoniaux. Prenant pour objet l’examen des « résonances émotionnelles et affectives inhérentes au projet patrimonial », l’objectif est de mieux comprendre comment « le corps et l’esprit convergent pour susciter des expériences vibrantes et significatives » (Munroe, 2017 : 114). Aussi, il est intéressant d’explorer et détailler les nouvelles stratégies narratives et interprétatives qui « stimulent l’imagination des visiteurs » (Savenije et De Bruijn, 2017 : 832), ainsi que les dispositifs mobilisés, du point de vue des positions, rôles et postures qu’ils proposent aux visiteurs.

How to build capacity and community for Digital Humanities teaching and research
In this two-day workshop, we will share what we have done at UCLA to build real capacity and community for digital humanities teaching and research. Drawing from our experience creating the Scholarly Innovation Lab (SIL), on Day 1 we will share our story and offer guidance and best practices for building a DH lab with modest investment. On Day 2 we will introduce and discuss two of our more successful areas of practice – 3-D modelling for cultural heritage, and Zoom pedagogy for course sharing. The format will be conversational. Our goal is to help cultivate practical approaches for next steps at the University of Helsinki.

Text as object in the Middle Ages
The International Medieval Congress (IMC) is the largest medieval studies conference in the world. In line with the Special Thematic Strand in 2019 “Materialities” and the recent creation of the strand “Manuscript studies”, we organize sessions on “Text as object in the Middle Ages”. Texts, indeed, are at the same time an idea and a form. The latter is the result of a combination of inherited social uses and specific intentions by the various actors involved in transmitting the text as idea. This process begins with the authors, continues to the craftsmen (parchment and paper makers, copyists and chancery clerks, painters and illuminators, sculptors and weavers, booksellers…) and then on to possessors, readers, archives and libraries. All textual artefacts are concerned: manuscripts, charters, inscriptions, tapestries, seals, coins, etc.

Cultural Heritage, Natural Heritage And Digital Humanities

Cette journée d’étude a pour finalité de mettre en relation des domaines de recherche rattachés au patrimoine avec les humanités numériques envisagées dans leurs différentes dimensions. Elle est organisée dans le cadre de l’infrastructure européenne, scientifique et institutionnelle de l’ERIC (European Research Infrastructure) DARIAH (Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities), et du programme Ambassador Dariah du projet européen Humanities at Scale. Deux domaines interdisciplinaires de recherche sont concernés, le patrimoine culturel et le patrimoine naturel. Les chercheurs qui travaillent dans le domaine du patrimoine culturel et des organisations de la culture, de même que les chercheurs investis dans le domaine du patrimoine naturel, notamment en relation avec l'environnement et la santé environnementale, sont fréquemment confrontés aux questions soulevées par l’exploration de corpus, l'analyse et la fouille textuelle, ainsi que les représentations visuelles des résultats de ces traitements.
