Les contributions attendues peuvent porter sur les enjeux à la fois éditoriaux, politiques et socioéconomiques qui définissent les rapports entre les éditeurs (professionnels, amateurs) et les plateformes numériques, sur les pratiques et usages qui entourent ces relations mais aussi sur leur encadrement.

Intersections. New perspectives for public humanities

HFC-INT 2020

The international network Humanities for Change, in accordance with the interdisciplinary spirit and the contaminatory approach that characterize its activities, intends to organize a day of study on the theme of public humanities. The meeting aims to stimulate some reflections coming from different fields of knowledge and to encourage the dialogue between researchers on the possibilities of the humanities to escape from academic circles. In this sense, the main object of study is the analysis of methodologies and tools related to knowledge dissemination practices for historical, artistic and philological-literary disciplines. Particular attention will also be given to new professional figures connected to the degree courses of the humanities faculties (such as the 'public historian') and to the interactions of these professional figures with the new media of communication and mass dissemination.

Artistic, Digital, and Political Creation in English-Speaking African Countries

Africa 2020

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. Even if this cultural focus cannot be abstracted from a broader geopolitical agenda marred by controversial presidential declarations, it nevertheless has the potential to offer a somewhat different coverage of the continent. One can only hope that it avoids the temptation to officially “curate into being” “exceptional” artists (Dovey), tapping into the all-too-familiar image of Africa as “the supreme receptacle of the West’s obsession with, and circular discourse about, the facts of ‘absence,’ ‘lack,’ and ‘non-being,’ of identity and difference” (Mbembe).

Africa 2020: Artistic, digital, and political creation in english-speaking African countries

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. The peer-reviewed journal of Aix-Marseille Université research centre on Anglophone Studies (LERMA), E-rea, has decided to seize the opportunity of Africa 2020 to dedicate a special issue to contemporary artistic, digital, and political creation in English-speaking African countries. Heeding Kenyan political analyst Nanjala Nyabola’s advice to eschew the too reductive ‘Africa rising’ and ‘Africa failing’ narratives in favour of ‘Africa being’ stories, this special issue wishes to focus on “stories reflecting the ambivalence, complexity, challenges and opportunities of African societ[ies] in an increasingly connected world”.

Mobile ecologies - conference

Pour la huitième édition du colloque international du groupe de recherche « Mobile et Création », dans un contexte environnemental sinistré et de mobilisations dans lesquelles les smartphones jouent un rôle crucial pour témoigner visuellement et relayer l’information, nous avons pour visée de mettre en avant la nature matérielle de la culture mobile. En s’attachant à la dimension matérielle de la culture mobile, il s’agit d’enrichir l’approche communicationnelle des usages et des contenus, en s’intéressant aux aspects géo-physiques des terminaux qui le rendent possible. Ce colloque a pour ambition de contribuer à développer une « écologie mobile » inspirée en partie de l’« écologie de l’attention », comme le propose Yves Citton. Une « écologie mobile » qui ne se contente pas d’accabler « l’addictif » comme le discours médiatique nous y a habitué, mais qui s’attaque également au problème de l’extractif.

This multi-day forum of panel presentations, a poster session, and interactive breakout sessions on key issues facing Western European collections and public services will encourage both structured and unstructured debate. We will advance our understanding of the challenges and initiate action in three areas: design new models for collaborative collection development and services; explore a growing range of content and format types and what they mean for libraries and researchers, and highlight the evolving role of libraries and librarians in the research process.

The objective of this workshop is to create the conditions for the emergence of a scientific community using digital collaborative tools within Ethiopian studies. There is no need to recall the scientific and technological context in which we live to understand the importance and challenges of this methodological revolution. Many initiatives have emerged over the past two decades, both in terms of the availability of digitized documentation and the tools to use it. After the first experiments, interoperability and sharing have become the key words, and Ethiopian studies must respond to these good practices.

La BnF publie son appel à chercheurs 2018, afin de s'associer le concours de chercheurs pour l'année universitaire 2018-2019. This three-day conference proposes an exploration of how television formats have influenced and staged bodies, health and healthy practices from local, regional, national and international perspectives, and how these TV programmes spread the conviction that viewers could and should invest in their health and shape their own body.
