Myth and Audiovisual Creation

V International Conference on Mythcriticism

The V International Conference on Mythcriticism “Myth and Audiovisual Creation” will analyze the impact of myth in audiovisual creation from 1900 to the present day. The Conference will be organized in four universities during two weeks.The Conference will be divided into 4 venues according to different themes: "Germanic Myths" in the University of Alcalá, "Classical Myths" in the University Autónoma, "Biblical Myths" in the University Francisco de Vitoria and "Modern Myths" in the University Complutense. Researchers can send to one of their 4 venues their abstracts. They will have to analyze the relevance of film, TV series and video games in the creation and modification of old, medieval and modern myths to our contemporary world.

Francis of Assise. A poet in the city

Franciscan variations in France from the late 19th century to the present day

L’entre-deux-guerres et la fin du XX^e siècle manifestent un intérêt commun pour la littérature franciscaine. Cet attrait pour la figure du Poverello s’appuya sur le renouvellement biographique opéré par le protestant français Paul Sabatier en 1893 et le Danois catholique Johannes Joergensen en 1907. Ce recours au réservoir imaginaire franciscain pour penser l'époque et renouveler l'inspiration s’étendit au delà des milieux catholiques ou chrétiens et concerna la littérature mais aussi la peinture, la sculpture, le cinéma ou la musique, ainsi que divers courants de pensée (politique, philosophie, spiritualité). Le colloque François d’Assise, un poète dans la cité se penchera sur ce phénomène intellectuel en France au XX^e siècle.

Esther (Etty) Hillesum writings are a crucial historical document, as they report on the extreme evil of racial persecutions and life in lagers. They are a reflection on the value and the meaning of life, love and death. The International Conference “Etty Hillesum. Cento anni dopo (1914-2014)” (December 9-10, 2014, at Ca' Foscari University in Venice, Italy) aims to assess the works of this important witness from the 20th century.

Le but du colloque est d’actualiser la connaissance historique du courant personnaliste chrétien et de ses héritages en interrogeant la manière dont les arts et les discours sur l’art se sont approprié ses principes théoriques. À terme, il s’agit de désigner la place de ce courant dans le développement des cultures contemporaines et d’établir une typologie et une chronologie de ses lieux et modes d’expression.
