Le Carnet parodien d’histoire de l’art et d’archéologie est un nouveau carnet de recherche publié en ligne sur la plateforme d'OpenEdition, Hypothèses. Il propose à de jeunes chercheurs comme à des chercheurs confirmés de publier des articles et posters en lien avec le thème annuel du colloque de Paray-le-Monial. Les posters sont exposés lors du colloque (3-4 octobre 2020). Cette année, le thème est « Reliques et pèlerinages ». Les articles et posters peuvent concerner toutes les périodes mais doivent privilégier des sujets liés à l'Europe occidentale.

Historiography of the Perception of Islam through Manuscripts, Korans and their Displacement

The aim of this workshop is to approach the question of the relationship between Christianity and Islam through the study of the production, circulation and uses of Arabic manuscripts, and mainly Korans, in the late medieval and early modern Mediterranean Europe. Our assumption is that the Balkans, Italy and the Iberian Peninsula form an axis of circulation which is especially significant for our understanding of the Mediterranean Sea as a comprehensive space of cultural, political and religious contact.

Cemeteries and tombs at the crossroads of religion, politics and the urban

Les cimetières et les sépultures constituent un objet privilégié des sciences humaines et sociales. L’anthropologie a toujours accordé une importance majeure aux pratiques et aux espaces funéraires comme témoins des invariants humains et des particularismes culturels (M. Godelier, 2015). L’archéologie, l’épigraphie et la science historique trouvent dans les cimetières et les sépultures des sources matérielles d’information sur la vie des plus anciennes sociétés, leurs changements politiques, économiques et moraux. Pour les sciences religieuses, ces objets s’inscrivent dans des systèmes de pensée et d’action qui leur donnent sens et qu’ils documentent en retour. Pour la philosophie et la sociologie modernes, les cimetières peuvent être vus comme des « hétérotopies » (M. Foucault, 1967), des lieux « inscrits dans l’espace-temps d’une existence alternative, à la fois matérielle et imaginaire » (J.-D. Urbain, 2010).

Mobilisations patrimoniales et religieuses en miroir

Ce colloque interrogera la fabrique du patrimoine religieux dans les Afriques. Depuis la fin des années 1970, le patrimoine s'entend comme « une notion (…) qui couvre de façon nécessairement vague tous les biens, tous les “trésors” du passé » (Babelon et Chastel 1980). Le patrimoine n’est plus seulement monumental : il se démultiplie et se décline de mille et une manières. Ainsi les Afriques sont-elles traversées par des mouvements multiples qui mobilisent leurs acteurs sociaux autour de questions aussi diverses que patrimoine religieux et identité ethnico-raciale, patrimoine religieux et imaginaire national, mise en patrimoine de lieux saints, d’archives locales et orales, patrimoine religieux et arts contemporains, patrimoines religieux immatériels, patrimoine religieux et plateformes numériques, mais également un refus iconoclaste des mises en patrimoine du religieux par certains mouvements fondamentalistes.

Ce colloque s'inscrit dans le cadre de l'ANR LoDoCat (Lotharingie dorsale catholique). Il vise à se demander s'il existe des formes spécifiques de dévotion dans cet espace. As part of the Saint Martin's year 2016 (1700th anniversary of the birth of Saint Martin), an international conference will be held at the University of Tours on the theme of “Saint Martin, expansion and revivals in his popularity from the origins to the present day”. The conference concerns not only the historical field but archeology, art history, sociology, theology, literary studies. The focus will be on the lesser known aspects of the theme, e.g. the revivals of saint Martin's cult in some regions of Europe at different periods; or ethnological and anthropological dimensions and their impact on art and literature; or theological appropriation of the saint Martin's figure.

This workshop of the inaugural conference of the Association of Critical Heritage Studies (Gothenburg, 5 June 2012) focuses on the relationships between religion and heritage in the Mediterranean. It aims to study the entwining of these two phenomena and reveal the eventual particularities of religious heritage-making, as well as to discuss the conceptions of heritage embedded in the monotheistic religions, and re-examine the cultural matrix that religion and heritage share, redefine or negotiate through memory practices.
