Kandinsky library summer school
L’université d'été de la bibliothèque Kandinsky est un programme du Centre Pompidou qui se déroule dans l’espace des collections permanentes du musée national d’Art moderne. Elle a pour objet les sources de l’art moderne et contemporain : archives, documentation écrite, photographique ou filmique, témoignages, formes de production documentaire par les artistes. Format interdisciplinaire, l’université d'été de la bibliothèque Kandinsky réunit de jeunes chercheur·e·s : historiens et historiens de l’art, anthropologues et sociologues, artistes, critiques, commissaires d’expositions, qui partagent un travail collectif sur les sources documentaires. Ils se réunissent tous et toutes autour de la table-vitrine de l’université d'été à la fois dispositif d’accueil, table de montage et d’exposition. Elle recueille fac-similés, reproductions, sources archivistiques et documentaires proposées ou évoquées au cours des séances. Plusieurs ateliers d’écriture rythment le parcours de l’université d’été.

Pathos. Forms and fortunes of literary emotions
The goal of this summer school is to explore the role of emotions in literature, namely with respect to the excess of pathos in different forms and times. Pathos has been a fundamental aspect of literature in every epoch. Great poetry has always foregrounded its ability to represent feelings, evoke intense and vivid moods, and elicit readers’ emotions and empathy. On the other hand, the novel – the genre dominating literary modernity – has been o!en accused of indulging in sentimental excess, giving too much space to melodramatic expression. Indeed, in Western cultures, there is a widespread suspicion towards pathos, which has o!en been identified as a shortcoming of literature. Great books – according to a common implicit assumption – can prompt reflection and laughter, but not tears: pathos only concerns lowbrow production. The summer school is an opportunity to engage in a reflection on issues related to pathos in literature in the last few centuries. Different perspectives will be taken into account: specific literary works, reader response theory, cognitive narratology, transmedia adaptation, and publishing history.

The Fondazione 1563 per l'Arte e la Cultura della Compagnia di San Paolo invites scholars who are younger than 40, active in the disciplines of history, art history, architecture and literature and who hold a Ph.D., a certificate of specialization, a 2nd level master’s, or are enrolled in the second year of such study courses to apply to participate in the Summer School Rethinking the Baroque (XVII and XVIII centuries). New historical andcritical perspectives. The courses of the Summer School will all be taught in Italian. The participation in the Summer School is free.

An Environmental History of the Great War
We intend to bring together an international group of 20 to 30 graduate students working on military, cultural, social, and environmental history of the First World War from 2nd to 7th July 2018. Over the course of the week, they will have opportunity to get to know each other, but also a wide range of internationally recognized academic experts. Guided tours on excursions to French and Belgian sites are an integral part of the program and will enrich the participants' experience.

Elle entend fournir une formation théorique et pratique de haut niveau en épigraphie permettant le recensement, la lecture, l’exploitation et la conservation des inscriptions tracées sur pierre, bois ou métal au cours du Moyen Âge.

Memory and the making of knowledge in the Early Modern world
While memory is an established sub-field within these disciplines, its themes and sources have led to an over-representation of the ancient and modern worlds, meaning that the early modern era has been comparatively neglected. The School seeks not merely to redress this imbalance, but also to explore how studies of memory and early modernity might shape one another in the future. Participants in the Summer School, which will take place between 18 and 22 September 2017, will have the opportunity to discuss the most recent research presented by leading scholars in the field, to learn or refine skills in workshops that focus on the media and techniques of memory, and to present their own work to a uniquely qualified and supportive international peer group.

Initiative interdisciplinaire, l’Université d'été de la Bibliothèque Kandinsky réunit de jeunes chercheur·e·s : historiens et historiens de l’art, anthropologues et sociologues, artistes, critiques, commissaires d’expositions, qui partagent un travail collectif sur les sources. Implantée dans l’espace du musée, la table-vitrine de l’université d'été sert à la fois comme table de montage et d’exposition des éléments documentaires. Elle recueille fac-similés, reproductions, sources archivistiques et documentaires proposées ou évoquées au cours des séances.

Elle a pour objet les sources de l’art moderne et contemporain : archives, documentation écrite, photographique ou filmique, témoignages, mais aussi d’autres formes d’appropriation artistique et de production documentaire. Format interdisciplinaire, l’Université d'été de la Bibliothèque Kandinsky réunit des jeunes chercheurs : historiens et historiens de l’art, anthropologues et sociologues, artistes, critiques, commissaires d’expositions, qui s’engagent pendant dix jours dans un travail collectif sur les sources avec des professionnels de l’art et des universitaires.

The "Face" of First World War Battlefields and Battles
The centenary in 2016 of the two iconic battles of the First World War – Verdun and the Somme – leads us to reconsider battles and battlefields in the historiography of the First World War. Since John Keegan’s pioneering Face of Battle (1976), generations of historians have expanded our understanding of the experience of combat, as well as our knowledge of the literary and artistic representations of the battlefield. The way we think about the legacy of battles in the memory of the First World War around the world, too, has changed. Our week in Verdun and Péronne will not only give us time to reflect on the current state of research on the battles of the First World War and discover the most recent advancements in battlefield archeology and environmental history of warfare, but also confront these readings with on-the-ground visits to the sites studied.

L'Institut d'histoire du livre organise chaque année à Lyon une école d'été dont l'objectif est de promouvoir la diffusion des savoirs spécifiques au monde du patrimoine écrit. L’apprentissage se fait par des sessions de cours à l’enssib, appuyées sur un livret pédagogique et des supports audiovisuels d’une part, et par l’étude de documents originaux, rares et précieux au Musée de l’imprimerie et à la Bibliothèque municipale de Lyon, d’autre part. Les cours s’adressent à un large éventail de spécialistes en histoire du livre et des techniques graphiques : chercheurs, enseignants, conservateurs de bibliothèques et de musées, artisans, bibliothécaires, libraires, graphistes, collectionneurs, doctorants...

Reconstituer une bibliothèque médiévale aujourd’hui : l’exemple de Saint-Bertin
L'école d'été « Reconstituer une bibliothèque médiévale aujourd'hui. L'exemple de Saint-Bertin » est organisée à Saint-Omer, du mardi 25 au samedi 29 août, par l'Equipex Biblissima, l'IRHT et la bibliothèque d'agglomération de Saint-Omer. Cette école d'été initiera les participants à la description scientifique des manuscrits médiévaux et à l'édition électronique des inventaires anciens pour comprendre l'histoire de la bibliothèque de Saint-Bertin.

Les spoliations d’œuvres d’art par les nazis – la scène parisienne
Le crime des spoliations et la politique de restitutions qui lui a répondu ont fait l’objet, depuis une vingtaine d’années, d’importants investissements, historiographiques, institutionnels, juridiques ou même artistiques. De nombreux colloques ou propositions artistiques montrent les enjeux brûlants qui se profilent derrière cette question patrimoniale qui n’est technique qu’en apparence. Dans la nouvelle édition de son université d’été, la bibliothèque Kandinsky propose de procéder à un réexamen du dossier en revenant au point de départ, c’est-à-dire aux sources. Elle constituera une expérience unique vécue au cœur même de l’espace du musée et animée par des intervenants issus de plusieurs disciplines. Elle prendra la forme d’une succession d’ateliers de travail arrimés aux sources autour de cinq thématiques.

Erstmalig findet in diesem Jahr die literaturwissenschaftliche Sommerschule des Deutschen Romanistenverbandes statt. Sie wird 2014 von RomanistInnen der Universitäten Halle-Wittenberg, Köln und Potsdam in Zusammenarbeit mit dem DRV ausgerichtet. Unter dem Titel „Romanistik in Bewegung“ ist die Potsdamer Sommerschule die Auftaktveranstaltung zu einer Reihe von DRV Sommerschulen, die nach dem Motto „Vom Nachwuchs für den Nachwuchs“ fortan im jährlichen Bewerbungsverfahren zu unterschiedlichen Themen durchgeführt werden können.
