  Hemp : from fiel to tread

  Practices, know-how and movements from Protohistory to the 21st century

  Numerous hemp kilns abandoned in the countryside, particularly in western France, remind us of the importance of hemp canvas production during modern and contemporary times. Today, our society is re-discovering this plant which appears to be of interest to make agriculture more environment-friendly. Despite this glorious economic past, the history of hemp as a textile crop has yet to be written. To remedy this limitation, an interdisciplinary approach try to write the intertwined history of men and hemp.

  Dans l’Antiquité les récits de changements environnementaux majeurs constituent un ensemble complexe et hétérogène où les témoignages historiques bien datés de la littérature savante côtoient des traditions mythiques locales dont l’origine et la chronologie sont plus difficiles à établir. Selon une approche multi-disciplinaire et comparative, le sujet de la thèse se propose d’étudier les récits de l’Antiquité classique et les traditions orales des sociétés aborigènes d’Australie et / ou des îles du Pacifique des périodes plus ou moins récentes de l’histoire.

  The current state of research in the national par of the Morvan

  Depuis plusieurs années, se développent sur le Parc naturel régional du Morvan, et autour du Grand site de France Bibracte-Mont Beuvray, des travaux de recherche, croisant différentes approches, méthodologies, et échelles de temps et d'espace. Ce séminaire pluridisciplinaire semestriel a pour objectif de constituer un lieu d'interface entre recherche fondamentale et recherche appliquée, entre chercheurs, gestionnaires et acteurs de l'environnement (espaces protégés, Parcs, etc...), un lieu de dialogue facilitant le croisement des regards et des résultats des travaux des étudiants, où les protocoles respectifs pourront être affinés collectivement dans un esprit de complémentarité dans la recherche; un lieu d'échanges ouvert à tous ceux intéressés par la démarche partagée et le sujet.

  Call for papers - Prehistory and Antiquity

  From the Caucasus to the Arabian Peninsula: studying domestic spaces in the Neolithic

  Under neolithisation scholars understand multiple processes of social and economic transformation which begin at different times and follow regional trends in the Near and Middle East. It is within the complex relational and spatial framework of the household that these shifts in the structure and activities of Neolithic communities are easiest to apprehend and study. The conference will therefore focus on the domestic sphere in order to highlight and understand the polymorphous nature of what we call neolithisation. Various thematic sessions will be held to shed new light on current data: “Impacts of the shift to a sedentary/semi-sedentary lifestyle”; “Organising the house and the household”; “Private space/public space”; “Acquisition, production, transformation and use”; “Eating-Moving”; “Symbolic manifestations”;“The living and the dead”.

  Territory and economy of the populations of the Hellenistic and Roman Empires borders

  IIe International Multidisciplinary Conference in wādī Rum

  The first International Multidisciplinary Conference in Wādī Rum took place from November 11th to 13th 2011 in Wādī Rum Visitor Center and was the opportunity to review scientific advances about the region. The second edition of the International Multidisciplinary Conference in Wādī Rum will be held in Wādī Rum Visitor Center on November 12^th, 13^th and 14^th 2013. The International Multidisciplinary Conference 2^ndedition will be dedicated to the study of the Nabatean territories and economy. The water issue that is particularly at stake in the region, is at the core of this International Multidisciplinary Conference 2^nd edition. It will encourage the comparison between what has been done through history in Wādī Rum region and beyond.

  La mémoire de la mine et des mineurs est l’un des axes prioritaires de la région Languedoc-Roussillon dans le domaine du patrimoine. La région s’est donc associé à Véronique Moulinié, ethnologue rattachée à l’ethnopôle Garae pour organiser une journée d’étude permettant de faire le point sur les recherches scientifiques autour des mines du territoire régional, tant de point de vue de la géographie que de l'archéologie, de l'histoire ou de l'éthnologie.
