Violence and politics from Antiquity to the present day

Selon le mot de Karl Marx, la violence est l’accoucheuse de l’histoire et, au centre de l’histoire, qu’on le veuille ou non, se dresse le politique avec son cortège d’acteurs qui, périodiquement, entretiennent, écartent ou subissent la violence sous diverses formes, parfois dans la brutalité la plus extrême. Les contradictions sautent aux yeux : en créant le droit et la justice, le politique est censé réprimer et éradiquer la violence ; l’organisation sociale elle-même semble être une réponse au chaos primitif et à la violence de la horde primitive. Voilà quelques réflexions qui guideront cette journée d’étude transhistorique consacrée aux rapports entre violence et politique.

Voices and Silences of antiquity to today" commemorates the May Revolution that marked the path to independence in Argentina, Participate Argentine and European researchers will present issues related to the pursuit of freedom through the various cycles of history.
