  Water Management in the Mediterranean during the 1st Millennium BC

  IIIe symposium international HYDRΩMED

  The aim of the meeting is to compare the different modes of adaptation of the Ancient Mediterranean populations to the environmental resources, especially their hydric resources. In a climate marked by unequal distribution of water, the ancient societies, whether Phoenician-Punic, Greek or Etruscan, responded in different ways to the various situations, let alone the hydric crises which may have affected them. The meeting will associate systemic theoretical reflections as well as case studies on ancient sites, to outline the mutations and the permanencies, the possible technological transfers from one society to another. Here, as in other fields of human activity, we shall query the existence of an ancient Mediterranean koine around the knowledge and the technical practices, around the cultural and cultural traditions. The chronology considered runs from the 8^th to the 1^st century BC, i.e. before the diffusion of the Roman models and techniques.

  The encounter between archaeology and history and adobe constructions - first conference

  Dans le cadre de l’exposition temporaire « Ma terre première pour construire demain », L’Établissement public du Pont du Gard propose, en partenariat avec l’UMR 5140 Lattes Montpellier, l’INRAP et la DRAC Languedoc-Roussillon, les première rencontres d’archéologie et d’histoire sur les constructions en terre crue du 7 au 9 décembre 2012. Ces 1ères rencontres permettront d'assister à la présentation des résultats de 30 années de recherches archéologiques et ethnographiques sur l'histoire de la construction en terre dans les pays occidentaux méditerranéens. Lors de ces Rencontres, les spécialistes aborderont les thèmes de l’évolution historique et technique de l’architecture en terre crue, depuis la Préhistoire jusqu’à nos jours.Seront réunis autour de ce thème les meilleurs spécialistes français, espagnols et italiens dans les domaines de l’archéologie, de l’ethno-architecture et de la conservation des vestiges.

  Le troisième colloque international Balnéorient se déroulera à Damas, du 2 au 6 novembre 2009, en étroite coordination avec la Direction générale des Antiquités et des musées de Syrie et l'Institut français du Proche-Orient (Ifpo). Après les approches diachroniques et régionales des colloques Balnéorient d'Alexandrie (dec. 2006) et d'Amman (mai 2008), cette troisième rencontre sur l'histoire du bain collectif depuis l'Antiquité jusqu’à nos jours favorisera les approches thématiques et comparatistes, dans une même démarche pluridisciplinaire.
