Ils discuteront notamment de la place accordée aux sciences humaines et sociales dans les priorités allouées à la recherche scientifique par l’Organisation mondiale de la santé et les principaux bailleurs de la recherche dans le cadre de la crise sanitaire actuelle.

  Artistic, Digital, and Political Creation in English-Speaking African Countries

  Africa 2020

  French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. Even if this cultural focus cannot be abstracted from a broader geopolitical agenda marred by controversial presidential declarations, it nevertheless has the potential to offer a somewhat different coverage of the continent. One can only hope that it avoids the temptation to officially “curate into being” “exceptional” artists (Dovey), tapping into the all-too-familiar image of Africa as “the supreme receptacle of the West’s obsession with, and circular discourse about, the facts of ‘absence,’ ‘lack,’ and ‘non-being,’ of identity and difference” (Mbembe).

  Africa 2020: Artistic, digital, and political creation in english-speaking African countries

  French President Emmanuel Macron announced on 3rd July 2018 in Lagos that a Special Season would be organized in France, from June to December 2020, to mark a renewed partnership with Africa, a “varied, strong and diverse continent that will play a part in our shared future”. The peer-reviewed journal of Aix-Marseille Université research centre on Anglophone Studies (LERMA), E-rea, has decided to seize the opportunity of Africa 2020 to dedicate a special issue to contemporary artistic, digital, and political creation in English-speaking African countries. Heeding Kenyan political analyst Nanjala Nyabola’s advice to eschew the too reductive ‘Africa rising’ and ‘Africa failing’ narratives in favour of ‘Africa being’ stories, this special issue wishes to focus on “stories reflecting the ambivalence, complexity, challenges and opportunities of African societ[ies] in an increasingly connected world”.

  Municipalisation and urban management in Mozambique

  Le Mozambique est encore très largement géré par l'administration de l'État central: il n'y a que 58 municipalités, toutes urbaines. La questionne est donc très politique, puisque toute avancée de la municipalisation permet à l'opposition d'acquérir plus de poids, même si le parti au pouvoir garde le contrôle sur la majorité d'entre elles. Ce colloque international aura lieu une dizaine de jours après la tenue des élections municipales d'octobre 2018, qui seront un test grandeur nature pour les élections présidentielles et législatives de l'année suivante...

  Global Justice and New international Ordrer: The Case of Sino-african Relationships

  The reconfiguration of the current world order within the contemporary international society constitutes the general framework of our reflection. Emerging countries such as Brazil, Russia, India and China aim to weigh on the course of history and to re-shape a balance of powers dating back to the end of the twentieth century. These countries intensify their external policies towards strategic areas rich in raw materials, especially in Africa, where Western nations also have interests. The persistence of global poverty, according to Pogge, refers to global justice, since this phenomenon results from a world order that structurally endorse an injustice which, furthermore, is not in line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

  African extraversions and globalisations. Abroad viewed from Africa in the long term

  Dans la continuité de la réflexion interdisciplinaire amorcée aux rencontres des études africaines 2014 (« Les réseaux connectés de l'océan Indien »), nous voulons dans cet atelier étendre le questionnement sur le rapport des sociétés africaines au global, en partant d'analyses locales. Les sociétés africaines s'inscrivent dans des relations mondialisées qui ont connu plusieurs phases de flux et de reflux depuis l'antiquité jusqu'à nos jours. À partir du XVIII^e siècle et surtout du XIX^e à aujourd'hui, les sociétés africaines ont été intégrées de manière de plus en plus rapide dans des circuits d'échange de biens et de superstructures qui ont modifié en profondeur leurs organisations et leurs conceptions du monde.
