  Les secondes journées d’étude de Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye auront pour objectif, par le biais d’une large approche pluridisciplinaire, d’explorer et de renouveler les connaissances relatives au « réseau antonin ». Autour de médiévistes et de modernistes (historiens, historiens de l’art et archéologues du bâti, littéraire, musicologue), il s’agira d’aborder les préceptories / commanderies de l’ordre selon quatre thèmes principaux : bâtir autour des implantations, des constructions et l’affirmation ou non d’un « art antonin » ; orner autour du décor peint et sculpté ainsi que des commanditaires ; accueillir autour des pèlerinages, de l’hospitalité et de la liturgie ; découvrir autour de l’expansion extra-européenne des antonins du Moyen Âge à l’Époque Moderne et de leur ouverture scientifique à l’origine du cabinet de curiosités de l’abbaye.

  9th international conference of doctoral students of the Byzantine world

  Pour la neuvième année consécutive, les rencontres internationales des doctorants du monde byzantin seront organisées à Paris les 7 et 8 octobre 2016. Elles ont pour objectif de rassembler les doctorants de toutes disciplines en rapport avec la civilisation byzantine afin de leur permettre d'exposer leurs recherches et de renforcer les liens entre les jeunes chercheurs. Toute contribution en rapport avec le monde byzantin ou post-byzantin est susceptible d'intéresser le comité d'organisation.

  Call for papers - Middle Ages

  Light in the Religions of the Book: A Multidisciplinary Approach

  If light is a valuable tool for the development of buildings, it also meets the requirements of practical and functional needs.  Beyond its purely aesthetic role, it is indeed a way to delineate the space and to organize its occupation by defining spatialities and temporalities adapted to the functions of the building. In order to assess the significance of spatial and temporal dimensions of light, a cross-reading of architectural, archaeological, textual and iconographic sources might be particularly fruitful. The theme of light which, somewhat complex, constitutes a privileged entry point not only to the study of man's relationship to space and the sacred, but also to the development – within or between monotheisms – of influences, exchanges, ruptures, continuities and legacies. The goal of the conference is to explore the theme of light in the East and in the West, during the Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, in a transdisciplinary perspective and within five thematic panels.

  Borders and border spaces: a subject for geographical and geopolitcal study

  Portant sur le programme au concours d'entrée de l'ENS-Lyon de 2013 (« Frontières et espaces frontaliers »), cette journée d'études interrogera des frontières interétatiques (notamment au prisme des exemples balkaniques et israélo-palestinien), entre construction, reconstruction, revendication, contestation. Elle abordera également la question de la représentation des frontières et espaces frontaliers à travers l'art et la cartographie (elle est également en lien avec la question « Représenter l'espace » au concours de l'agrégation de géographie).
