  The Department of History at the University of Exeter seeks to appoint one Postdoctoral Research Fellow for two years (24 months), to work with Dr. Maria Fusaro and her team on her new project "Sailing into Modernity: Comparative Perspectives on the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Century European Economic Transition", funded by the European Research Council (ERC).

  Maritime transport and its actors in early-modern Europe, from the North Sea to the Mediterranean

  L’armement maritime est reconnu pour avoir été un moteur de la croissance économique en Europe occidentale et une force majeure dans le premier mouvement de globalisation qui se développe au cours de la période moderne. Par contre, alors que le développement des trafics a été largement étudié, le fonctionnement de l’armement lui-même l’a beaucoup moins été. De très nombreux aspects de la structure opérationnelle des transports restent encore à découvrir. De plus, les trajectoires des individus impliqués dans l’organisation des activités d’armement et de transport sont essentielles pour comprendre la structure et l’évolution de systèmes mis en place.
