The Romanian Journal for Baltic and Nordic Studies calls for submission of articles in all fields which are intertwined with the aims of The Romanian Association for Baltic and Nordic Studies such as: history of Baltic and Nordic Europe; Baltic and Nordic Europe in International Relations; Baltic and Nordic Cultures; economics and societies of Baltic and Nordic Europe; relations between Black Sea Region and the Baltic and Nordic Europe.

Final Conference of the ValEUR research project
The conference addresses the role, effects and meanings of values at the crossroads of politics, culture, market and law. It documents the circulation and shaping of values between the different spheres of the European multi-level governance (local, national, supranational, transnational). It investigates the EU as a container of values politics as well as its interactions with external entities (Council of Europe, UN, rest of the world). A secondary purpose is to map the research using values as an exploratory framework of wider transformations of politics, policies and polities in Europe. Leaders of scientific projects having developed such agendas in recent years figure among the contributors.

Dissent Versus Conformism in the Nordic, Baltic and Black Sea Areas
The tenth annual international conference on Nordic and Baltic Studies in Romania
In the meanwhile, conformism seems to have pervaded larger categories of public in East-Central Europe and beyond and new “illiberal democracies” evolved. A composite of authoritarian leader and godfather have taken the reins of power in the area. Populist parties and movements are on the rise. Resurgent nationalisms are again offered as a substitute to solutions. The refugee crisis lingers on and no common decisions have been adopted within the EU to solve it on the basis of the European values. The EU institutions are in need of reform and decisions on the course of the organization and its future enlargement process are still pending. The conference aims at analyzing two often interrelated phenomena: dissent and conformism.

Cartographies of Southeast Europe
The Association international d’études du sud-est européen is happy to invite you to the 12th Congress of South-East European Studies, taking place in Bucharest, from the 2nd to the 7th of September 2019. One of the conference panels, organized by Robert Born (Leipzig) and Marian Coman (Bucharest), is dedicated to the cartographic history of south-eastern Europe. Proposals for individual papers are welcome on various aspects of the history of south-eastern Europe cartography, from the Ottoman period to the post-communist era. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: Renaissance and Early Modern maps of the Ottoman Empire, Enlightenment cartographies of Eastern Europe, the birth of national cartography, war and peace cartographies, historical and propaganda maps, national and local surveys, Cold War cartographies.

Au sein de l'ensemble des territoires contrôlés par les dynasties angevines, nous proposons d’examiner le personnel chargé des services centraux, la chancellerie, les cours de justice, les chambres des comptes et archives, ou encore le conseil royal ou l’hôtel, tout comme les officiers des cours locales. On s’interrogera sur l’origine, la formation, les réseaux et les carrières de ce personnel, ainsi que sur la genèse institutionnelle de ses offices et charges.

La redécouverte de la musique d'avant-garde soviétique des années 1920
Ce colloque propose d'étudier l’avant-garde musicale soviétique, expérience passionnante bien que marginale en comparaison des autres phénomènes artistiques qui ont accompagné la révolution soviétique. Les débats théoriques qui animent cette décennie se cristallisent notamment autour de la nature intrinsèque de la musique, en ce qu'elle existe en tant que monde sonore, idéologiquement libre. L’apparition d’intentions politiques dans l’ensemble des genres musicaux apparaît comme un élément central, caractéristique de la période soviétique des années 1920. À travers ce retour réflexif sur l’histoire, il nous paraît primordial d’étudier la place de la révolution de 1917 dans ce qu’elle a pu représenter pour les musiciens soviétiques, en tant qu’évènement historique déterminant. Cette problématique gagnerait à se nourrir des questionnements soulevés par d'autres disciplines, telles que l'histoire des arts, l'esthétique, l'histoire culturelle, ou d'autres disciplines artistiques.

Les 4 et 5 avril prochains aura lieu un colloque international, organisé par la Fondation Napoléon, le Souvenir napoléonien, le Centre de recherche en histoire des Slaves de l'Université Paris I, les Archives diplomatiques, et le Magazine L'Histoire, consacré à la campagne de Napoléon en Russie en 1812 : contexte politique, économique et social, campagne militaire, postérité de l'événement européen, au Centre de conférences ministérielles du ministère des Affaires étrangères (Paris XVe). -

The Ninth days of European History
L'Association des historiens présente les neuvièmes Journées de l'histoire de l'Europe : la France et la Russie dans l’Europe des XIXe et XXe siècles. Un programme de trente conférences en histoire, histoire de l'art et débats géopolitiques soutenu par l'Institut de France dans le cadre de la saison « France-Russie 2012, langues et littérature ». Cette manifestation se tiendra les 1er et 2 juin 2012 au centre Malsherbes-Sorbonne. L'Association des historiens organise lors de ces journées le Salon européen du livre d'histoire à l'issu duquel sera remis le Prix du livre d'histoire de l'Europe. -

Quarante ans après un événement majeur qui a marqué l’histoire de la Tchécoslovaquie et du monde au XXe siècle, il est possible de replacer le Printemps de Prague dans un temps plus long et un espace plus large afin d’en comprendre toutes les dimensions. La diversité des communications et des réflexions cherchera donc à insérer l’événement 1968 dans la chaîne historique ayant comme cadre à la fois de l’affirmation de la nation tchèque et une Europe toujours en construction. -
