The techno-political and socio-cognitive processing of "citizen" data
Ce numéro des Cahiers du Numérique vise à interroger les agencements de données impliquant des dispositifs de métrologies dites « citoyennes », envisagés plus globalement ici, comme des configurations techno-politiques de production et de traitement de données, caractérisées par des formes de participation polycentrique, plus ou moins institutionnalisées, et s’appuyant sur des infrastructures de publication et de traitement des données, sur des actants sensitifs et des protocoles, sur des sémiotiques et interfaces multiples (allant du capteur le plus simple aux sémiotisations les plus élaborées).

La cartographie se voit partout, le moindre objet est géolocalisé et, alors que le nombre d’informations géographiques disponibles et les outils de visualisation se multiplient, la composante spatiale est intégrée à de plus en plus de problématiques en sciences humaines et sociales. Entre visualisation et constitution de bases de données géographiques, la carte et les données qui la composent ont aujourd’hui plusieurs usages et supposent la manipulation de nombreux formats de données.

Geomedia is an emerging concept that has been deployed to capture a particular technological condition, associated with recent rapid developments in digital technology. As such, it signals to the dialectics of locative media and the mediations of localities. However, the concept of geomedia carries deeper/wider ontological and epistemological registers that transcend the simple twining of geography and media. In this wider sense, geomedia gestures to the expanding interdisciplinary terrain at the crossroads of media studies and geography, where various ontologies and epistemologies of space/time, flows/mobilities and mediation/ mediatization come together. The aim of this special issue is to explore the urban as a key terrain where these ontologies and epistemologies are articulated.

Digital humanities summer school (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas)
The digital humanities have been largely debated and are currently a wellestablished branch of knowledge with specific departments, research centres, journals and a growing community gathered around several national and international associations. The digital humanities have a growing impact on teaching, researching and on dissemination in the humanities, and are nowadays an almost mandatory approach for new research projects and for young researchers curriculum. This summer school aims at providing concrete answers to specific needs and challenges emerging from projects carried out by master and PhD students, and post-doctoral researchers in the arts, humanities and social sciences.

The mediation of technologies for a new communication and representation of territory
Session S25 of the 32nd Italian Geographers Congress
The session, which is part of the 32nd Congress of Italian Geographers, will accept both theoretical and methodological proposals exploring the forms through wich ICTs, particularly the Web, have been changing the dynamics of territory representation in the last decades. Among other things, the proposal shoud focus on territorial communication forms for both political and administrative aims (the communication by and for citizens/investors) and tourist and cultural purposes (the communication by and for tourists/visitors).

Modéliser et représenter les circulations en Europe et dans le monde
L’axe 3 de la MSHS du Sud-Est (L'Europe et ses « Autres ») organise le vendredi 10 avril 2015 à Nice une journée d’études intitulée « Modéliser et représenter les circulations en Europe et dans le monde ». Elle réunira des géographes, historiens, géomaticiens qui, à partir d’une étude de cas ou d’un projet de recherche, mettront l’accent sur les aspects méthodologiques de leur manière de représenter ou modéliser ce qui a trait à des circulations d’hommes, d’idées, de biens. La journée d’études sera filmée et mise en ligne par la suite. Cette initiative a reçu également le soutien du Centre de la Méditerranée moderne et contemporaine et du groupement Res-Hist (Réseaux et histoire).

Digital Humanities in Portugal: building bridges and breaking barriers in the digital age
Discussion about the role of the Humanities in academia and society has a long history. The confluence of this debate with the changes brought about by digital technology is not new either: one cannot speak of "new technologies" for the Humanities when many researchers turned to digital methods at least four decades ago, in disciplines as diverse as Linguistics, History or Literary Studies. The Conference “Digital Humanities in Portugal” aims precisely to stimulate these intersections, opening up a forum for discussion and sharing of research results or ongoing projects in this field of knowledge.

Internet nous fournit des opportunités de travail en réseau, d’éditions collectives et interactives, de textes interrogeables, d’accès immédiat aux sources (textes, images, sons) à un niveau international. L’archéologie, du fait même de sa pluridisciplinarité et de sa maîtrise déjà ancienne des bases de données, a donc des attentes particulières dans le cadre de l’édition électronique. La multiplication des fouilles, programmées ou en sauvetage, exige le développement d’outils de stockage et de consultation automatisée des données). Le développement des GIS et de la cartographie informatisée en général a conduit à développer des bases de données géo-référencées à différentes échelles et avec des objectifs variés, pas toujours clairement définis.

Networks in archaeology and history
Over the past decade "network" has become a buzz-word in many disciplines across the humanities and sciences. Researchers in archaeology and history in particular are increasingly exploring network-based theory and methodologies drawn from complex network models or social network analysis as a means of understanding dynamic social relationships in the past, as well as technical relationships in their data. This series of conferences aims to provide a platform for pioneering, multidisciplinary, collaborative work by researchers working to develop network approaches and their application to the past.

This workshop is about interconnections between, and in space and time. But it also sees interconnections at other levels: between modelling and analysing, between theory and practice, as well as between humanities and computing.
In the humanities, a close look at networks and relationships, whether formal or informal, personal or social, of information or of knowledge, of transportation or of communication, has always been an important subject of study and, at the same time, a powerful analytical process. In computer science, the study of networks and of methodologies for analysis and visualization of these relationships is nowadays an increasingly well understood and practiced area of knowledge. In both the humanities and computer science, researchers are well aware of the dynamic nature of data and knowledge when viewed through the lenses of space and time.

La notion de « cartes participatives » regroupe des réalités très diverses mais qui renvoient toutes à un processus d’élaboration collective de représentations cartographiques par un ensemble de personnes n’appartenant pas au milieu de la cartographie institutionnelle. Son champ apparaît en rapide expansion et on assiste depuis quelques années à une inflation des cartes participatives en ligne, en lien avec les développements du Web 2.0.

How to Create an Atlas of the Medieval Western World
Quelques médiévistes assemblés à Lisbonne, le 29 novembre 2010, ont évoqué, le redéploiement et la mutualisation de bases existantes en un atlas de l’Occident médiéval. Pour réaliser la convergence de bases dénuées de modèle commun, il a paru nécessaire d'organiser la consultation la plus large des méthodes de modélisation éprouvées tant dans le domaine des sciences humaines et sociales qu'en science informatique. On appelle un modèle « un système physique, mathématique ou logique représentant les structures essentielles d’une réalité et capable à son niveau d’en expliquer ou d’en reproduire dynamiquement le fonctionnement ».
