    Between past and present - the history of the body, shedding light on law, ethics and morality in medicine?

    L'histoire du corps peut mettre le temps long des sociétés au service des réflexions contemporaines sur les relations entre malades, remèdes et médecins. Grâce aux échanges entre historiens, praticiens, juristes, responsables d'association et acteurs politiques, cette manifestation souhaite établir un trait d'union entre les différents domaines d'expertise en matière de santé, que ce soit à travers les sciences humaines ou le droit, le tout au service d'une réflexion plurielle sur l'éthique du soin, sur les conditions d'accès aux médicaments et sur le statut, toujours discuté, de patients placés sous surveillance, pour ne pas dire sous contrôle, de dispositifs sanitaires sans cesse plus complexes.

    Encounters of French-speaking research in the humanities and social sciences on health

    Ce séminaire accueille chaque mois un·e chercheur·e en philosophie ou sciences humaines et sociales travaillant sur la santé afin qu'il·elle présente son travail et expose son regard sur l'objet santé. Organisé de manière à favoriser les échanges entre les différents acteurs, profesionnel·le·s, chercheur·e·s en santé ou tout simplement citoyens engagés, ce séminaire se veut un lieu ouvert de débat contribuant à la mise en place d’une réflexion commune sur la santé, sa nature, ses méthodes et ses enjeux. En mettant en outre l’accent sur les travaux menés en français dans ce domaine, il entend revendiquer l’importance de la francophonie dans ce champ de recherche en pleine expansion, et ainsi favoriser sa reconnaissance et son développement dans l’espace universitaire et public québécois.

    Life between construction and destruction: Forms, rules and norms

    Aside from the biological processes to which it is subjected from birth to death, human existence is characterized by the permanent effort all individuals and groups make to influence and control these processes, in order to live together. Whether occurring during a rite of passage or whether part of the interactions of everyday life, this construction invites us to question the various manners forms are made – be them “Life Forms” or “Forms of Life” – by carefully looking at the diversity of processes through which norms and rules become established .

    Psychology and trauma in the slave era: the main interdisciplinary lines of research in the reemergence of African psychology?

    International Festival of African Psychology 2016

    The International Festival of African psychology is a huge scientific and cultural interdisciplinary event. This annual activity will be held on this topic: how specific culture and knowledge shape the psychology of African descendants. The  aim of this festival is to advocate and bring awareness to the population, so that this approach could be integrated in a global theoretical frame when it comes to conceptualize psychological phenomenon and mental cares. This festival is brought to you by SITWOMAFRIKA, a Research Institute on Trauma Related to Slavery Experience & African Psychology in collaboration with the Institute of Research  and African Studies in Haiti at the State University of Haiti (IERAH/ISERSS), and the Psychosocial Department at « Zanmi Lasante »/Partners in Health. This year, we will organize a series of three scientific, artistic, and cultural days activities  from May 27 to 29 to shed light and elaborate on today psychological and psychopathological effect of trauma related to past slavery . As a consequence of this event, a discipline of psychology rooted in African philosophy or African centered would be able to (re) emerged.
