  Broadcasting health and disease

  Bodies, markets and television, 1950s-1980s

  The three-day conference aims to investigate how television programmes in their multiplicity approached issues like medical progress and its limits, healthy behaviour or new forms of exercise by adapting them to TV formats and programming...The conference seeks to analyse how television and its evolving formats expressed and staged bodies, health and fitness from local, regional, national and international perspectives. How spectators were invited not only to be TV consuming audiences, but how shows and TV set-ups integrated and sometimes pretended to transform the viewer into a participant of the show. TV programmes spread the conviction that subjects had the ability to shape their own body.

  La santé par et à travers l’image

  Deuxième journée « Images et acteurs du champ de la santé »

  Malgré la place qu’elle occupe dans le quotidien et son intérêt pour la compréhension des systèmes de santé et des représentations du corps et de la santé par les populations, l'image en santé paraît encore sous-exploitée comme source ou comme objet de recherche par les sciences humaines et sociales. Trois journées d’études sont organisées entre le second semestre 2007 et 2008 (une sur chacun des sites partenaires, c’est-à-dire Brest-UBO, Lorient-UBS et Rennes-ENSP) autour de trois thématiques traitées de façon conjointe : la santé au travers de l’image, la santé par l’image et la maîtrise de l’image et sa mise en valeur. Cette seconde journée d’études qui se tiendra à Brest le 4 avril portera sur le thème : « Images et acteurs du champ de la santé ».
