  Europe and Asia: challenges and crisis-management

  Further to the first Europe-Asia conferences exploring regional regime dynamics (France, 2004), policies of regional cooperation (Korea, 2005), interregional competition (France, 2012) and the limits of regional constructions (Kazakhstan, 2014), this 2016 edition will look at the reciprocal understanding of regions and how that is conducive to their capacity (or lack thereof) to monitor crises they undergo, both specific crises and interregional ones. Papers must address original research, in regional dynamics of Asia and Europe, since the end of the cold war and focus on one area among.

  Discriminations: the current state of research, 2nd edition

  Pour la deuxième édition de son colloque annuel, l’ARDIS propose de réfléchir aux mécanismes de production des situations discriminatoires, quel qu’en soit le motif : origine, sexe, handicap ou état de santé, nationalité, âge, orientation sexuelle, religion etc. Le thème du colloque inclut les processus de minorisation, de marginalisation, de stigmatisation, d’exclusion ou de ségrégation. Il invite à multiplier les points de vue sur les processus qui conduisent à ces différentes formes de mise à l’écart : dispositifs institutionnels, calculs rationnels, ressorts psychologiques ou anthropologiques (croyances ou convictions, gêne, peur, envie…).

  Communities: problem or solution?

  Cette conférence fait suite à une conférence sur le « Community Organizing » qui s’est tenue à Vaulx-en-Velin en mars 2012. Le succès de cette conférence a montré qu’il y a une attente pour réfléchir à d’autres modes d’action, faisant plus confiance aux capacités des habitants des quartiers populaires à agir et à se mobiliser. La chaire Unesco « Politiques urbaines et citoyenneté » et le collectif « Pouvoir d’Agir » souhaitent donc prolonger la réflexion engagée en se penchant plus spécifiquement sur les liens qui sont susceptibles d’être mobilisés et sur ce qui est susceptible de fonder un collectif. Plus largement, il s’agit aussi de questionner certaines représentations relatives aux « communautés » (entendues au sens des liens d’interconnaissance créés par une origine géographique ou par une identité culturelle partagée) en mettant en perspective les ressources que constituent les liens communautaires, comme les obstacles qu’ils peuvent dresser face à l’insertion économique et à l’intégration sociale.

  Revolts and Transitions in the Arab World: Towards a New Urban Agenda?

  This international colloquium aims to discuss the urban dimension of the great changes in the Arab world, from the origins of the 2011 revolutionary episodes to the present experiences of democratisation, along with phases of political transition and socio-economic crisis in which states are still entangled. Our objective is to (re)consider processes of urbanisation and urban practices, by the yardstick of the political, economic and social issues relevant in the region since the beginning of the decade. Organized by the Pole "City and Sustainable Development" of the CEDEJ (http://www.cedej-eg.org/), this colloquium is also part of two ongoing research programs : - Sustainable City in the South Mediterranean (MeRsi project), co-funded by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (Academic Agency of French-speaking countries)- Middle East Office and the CEDEJ; - SYSREMO: Global Geographies : Towards a regional system in the Middle East, funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (National Agency for Research), France (ESO-Rennes).
