  Regulating bioeconomy

  (Re)Making and regulating life and livelihoods across borders: transnational bioeconomy, law, and governance

  Biotechnological industry, researchers, and governments have entered a new constellation, regime, and accelerated phase, called the Bioeconomy. This agenda - which exists in the form of policy, funding programs, white papers, etc. - reimagines how we live, how we live together with other kinds of life, and, directly, these other kinds of life at the molar and molecular level. In other words: All kinds of livelihoods in their social, economic, and ethical relations are put in motion. This agenda is, geopolitically, not restricted to Global North nor contained by any national or international jurisdiction and governance.

  First study day of the pluridisciplinary "genetics and genomic medicine" network

  Le réseau thématique pluridisciplinaire (RTP) « Génétique & Médecine génomique » vise à structurer les recherches en sciences humaines et sociales dans le champ de la génétique et de la médecine génomique. Il peut organiser des événements scientifiques en vue de réaliser ces objectifs. Son champ d’action est défini largement pour couvrir tous les enjeux épistémologiques, philosophiques, historiques, sociologiques, anthropologiques, économiques, éthiques et juridiques de l’analyse des génomes et de leurs usages médicaux et non-médicaux. Cette première journée d'étude sera l'occasion d'entendre des chercheuses et des chercheurs du réseau, de disciplines variées, exposer leurs résultats et leurs travaux en cours.

  Serial crisis, sky-rocketing subscription prices as well as more and more widespread and powerful OA mandates have pushed many publishers to rethink the finance of publishing the journals. Considering a switch calls out numerous challenges but it is a path more and more travelled – and importantly so an economically – sustainable and one with long-term benefits – not only for readers, but also for authors and the journal owners, too. In 2014 De Gruyter converted 14 journals to OA – this webinar looks at overarching strategies for journal transition from subs to OA – including current OA publishing landscape and single factors (like managing submissions, citations and funding) that play a role during the process.  Is it worth it? Who will foot the bill? What to expect? And how to bring the EAB on board? The introductory one-hour webinar is built around three sections to allow participants to work out the flipping strategy for their publication and to timely and reasonably plan  the change.
