  Cette journée intitulée « Armées, sciences et techniques : Recherches historiques sur une relation complexe dans les mondes moderne et contemporain » et invite à analyser un regard croisé entre l’histoire militaire et l’histoire des sciences et techniques. Cette journée vise à souligner le renouvellement des études dans ces deux domaines en mêlant jeunes chercheurs et chercheurs confirmés.

  Naval Arsenals (c. 1600-c. 2000)

  Historians have been conscious of the major importance of arsenals and for some time now have been interested in these establishments, for to study the arsenal is to understand the preparation made for war, a common and transversal thread of naval historiography. This unit also lends itself to "total history", that is simultaneously economic, social, financial, technological, industrial, geographical, strategic, maritime ... Naval arsenals are therefore well known and the study of them has mostly been carried out within the framework of major theses, each institution having found "its" historian.

  Conflict and scientific progress in Lorraine through the centuries

  Ce colloque se propose d’examiner dans la diachronie les implications industrielles et technologiques de la guerre. Les interactions de ce triptyque guerre, science et industrie sont ambivalentes. Les périodes d’activités militaires peuvent constituer des opportunités pour certains secteurs scientifiques et économiques qui bénéficient des moyens exceptionnels dégagés par l’effort de guerre mais elles déstabilisent le fonctionnement normal de la société, entraînent des ruptures des circuits d’approvisionnement et de distribution économique et freinent les échanges intellectuels.
