  Circulation des idées et histoire des savoirs géographiques : hiérarchies, interactions et réseaux

  Le Réseau brésilien pour l’histoire de la géographie et géographie historique et le programme d'études supérieures en géographie de l’université fédérale de Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), en collaboration avec la Commission de l’union géographique internationale (UGI) sur l'histoire de la géographie, organise un colloque international autour de la thématique « circulation des idées et histoire des savoirs géographiques : hiérarchies, interactions et réseaux », qui se tiendra à Rio de Janeiro, au Brésil, du 16 au 20 décembre 2014.

  1914-1918. The war in maps

  The 1rst World War dramatically affected societies and territories, as well as personal lives and all forms of culture, in Europe and elsewhere in the world. The 1914-1918 conflict had in all respects a foundational nature. On the occasion of the 1rst World War commemorations, and in connection with the exhibition, "Summer of '14: The Last Days of the Old World", which will be held at the French National Library from March 25 to August 3, the French Committee of Cartography organizes a conference specifically dedicated to the role of cartography in the war, according to three main issues : the role of maps during the preparation of the war, the use of maps on the theatre of military operations, the importance of the map in a civil society during the war.

  Ideas in movement: the role of conflict and commerce in the history of navigation

  Following successful meetings in 2010 and 2012, Royal Museums Greenwich and the Royal Institute of Navigation are planning a third symposium to bring together current research in the history of navigation. 2014 sees the centenary of the beginning of the First World War. While this conflict provided a powerful stimulus for research and development in navigation, technological developments have also sprung from users and from commercial imperatives.

  French Geography and Geographers facing World War II

  Journée d'études EHGO 2009

  S’il existe un certain nombre d’études de géographes et d’historiens sur les relations entre les géographes français et le régime de Vichy, aucune publication n’envisage de manière synthétique la question. L’ambition de cette journée d’études est de susciter des enquêtes nouvelles et de tenter de combler cette lacune sur l’histoire de la géographie durant les années 1940-1945. Le champ à étudier étant très large, cette journée ne saurait épuiser les thèmes à aborder. Elle sera d’abord exploratoire, et d’autres journées consacrées au sujet sont d’ores et déjà envisagées.
