  For the launch of an international digitization and digital edition project, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of sciences and humanities (BBAW) invites applications for the position of a Research Assistant (male/female/divers) in the field of Digital Humanities (Digital Scholarly Editions and Research Software Development).The position is based in Berlin, Germany, but includes regular work assignments and team meetings in Havana. The focus of the project is on cultural and scientific historical sources of the 18th and 19th centuries in the context of Alexander von Humboldt's American journey.

  Freedom of Research Today

  Conflicts, practices, prospects

  In light of recent attacks against the freedom of research, we seek to reassess and reflect on the right to this freedom today, in a global context. Taking into account the punctual, tendential or structural nature of the attacks against this right, we focus on its current situation, its personal and collective practices as well as the networks and associations supporting it, and its political prospects. We adopt an encompassing, grounds-up and agonistic understanding of the freedom of research, which includes forms of journalistic, artistic and civic inquiry as well as academic research, situating it in a web of social, political and economic interrelations, and stressing the importance of understanding it as a contested right and a tool in conflict rather than simply an entitlement supposedly guaranteed by any “non-authoritarian” State.

  International workshop – Digital Humanities

  Humanités numériques outre-Atlantique : édition des textes et recherche interdisciplinaire

  Dans les pratiques de l’enseignement et de la recherche le numérique occupe désormais une place prépondérante. Des outils multiformes viennent faciliter et enrichir l’acquisition et la transmission du savoir. Centré sur l’application du numérique aux sciences humaines, notamment aux sciences de l’Antiquité, ce colloque présente des travaux fondés sur l’articulation fonctionnelle du concept et de l’outil. De la poésie à la philosophie, de la comédie à l’histoire des sciences, de la philologie à la médecine, de l’histoire grecque à l’égyptologie, l’édition numérique ré-agence la matière et réinvente les procédures de l’enquête. En initiant ce dialogue avec des projets qui ont ouvert des nouveaux chemins outre-Atlantique dans le domaine des humanités numériques, ce colloque invite à la réflexion sur ces pratiques qui remodèlent le rapport à nos métiers et à notre patrimoine.
