La définition de ce qui est musical ou de ce qui est bruyant peut être conflictuelle et, dès lors, devenir un enjeu politique. Cet enjeu de définition n'est pas intemporel et varie selon les cultures et les sociétés. Construire une histoire du handicap et de la surdité au travers des siècles (CHHS)
Séminaire bimensuel d’étude francophone 2021-2022
Alors que les synthèses sur l’histoire du handicap et de la surdité à toutes les époques historiques se multiplient actuellement dans la littérature anglo-saxonne, aucun ouvrage collectif n’a été publié dans la sphère francophone depuis le début des années 2000. Les chercheurs qui s’intéressent à l’histoire du handicap et de la surdité de l’espace francophone sont aujourd’hui assez isolés, les réseaux étant constitués uniquement autour de thématiques particulières (cécité, surdité) ou de période historique (comme le XXe siècle). Ce séminaire bimensuel a pour objectif de remédier à cette situation, en structurant un réseau francophone de recherche sur l’histoire du handicap et de la surdité toutes périodes historiques confondues.

It centers on material culture in Antiquity and the Middle Ages through the exploration of instances of objects, especially objects placed in association, and their materiality, expressivity and connectivity in a variety of media.

The conference Transmission of knowledge on fish and aquatic animals, texts and images (Antiquity, Middle Ages, 16th century) will be the closing event of GDRI Zoomathia, which ends at the end of 2021. The Zoomathia 2021 conference in Caen, organized by the ICHTYA program of Craham, is an extension of the 2017 conference.This conference wishes to emphasize, without being limited to ichthyofauna, on the scientific contribution of ancient sources on aquafauna in the broad sense and the biological and ecological knowledge of the species that compose it; the transmission and diachronic evolution of scholarly data on this fauna through the various knowledge media (texts, iconography - mosaics, illuminated manuscripts, early printed books and engravings, etc.); the mode of representation and identification of marine animals species permitted by old documents and related methodological issues.

Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Christian Initiation from Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages
On the occasion of this meeting dedicated to baptism and baptisteries, we intend to highlight the spatialization of baptismal rituals and their evolution between Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, by comparing different geographical areas within the boundaries of the Roman Empire and its neighbouring regions. Through the dialogue between written sources and archaeology, we would like to investigate whether baptismal practices could assert regional or confessional Christian identities.

Le programme de recherche intitulé « Géographies imaginaires : le voyage-prétexte comme machine à penser » prévoie d’éditer en ligne dans la revue Astrolabe un numéro inspiré de l’actualité : ces temps de pandémie et de confinement seraient le moment opportun pour réfléchir au voyage devenu immobile, mais qui jamais ne stagne. Quel en est le mouvement ? Est-il seulement imaginaire, s’il n’est physique ? Qu’en est-il aussi de celui qui bouge, mais n’avance pas, comme en un labyrinthe ? Autant de questions qui surgissent à propos des écritures du voyage immobile.

Le réseau interprofessionnel des gestionnaires de mobilier archéologique propose pour sa quatrième table ronde deux thématiques : les chantiers des collections en archéologie et la conservation sélective des biens archéologiques mobiliers. À l’heure où le musée et sites de Saint-Romain-en-Gal entame sa restructuration, couplée à un important chantier des collections, il sera le cadre idéal pour accueillir la quatrième table ronde du réseau interprofessionnel des gestionnaires de mobilier archéologique (RIGMA) les 18 et 19 mars 2021.

Artisans and workshops in Ancient and Medieval Italy
Initiation into research workshop
Pour la cinquième année consécutive, les membres de l’École française de Rome proposent une semaine d’initiation à la recherche consacrée à la question des artisans et des ateliers dans l’Italie antique et médiévale. Des conférences méthodologiques, des ateliers pratiques et des visites permettront d’aborder cette thématique. La formation aura lieu à Rome, du 25 au 29 janvier 2021 et est ouverte aux étudiantes et étudiants de master 1 et master 2 de diverses disciplines (histoire, histoire de l’art, archéologie et sciences sociales), inscrits dans une université française, dont les recherches s’intéressent de près ou de loin aux productions artisanales antiques et médiévales.

The flight paths of aerial archaeology
The past viewed from the sky: 4000 years of history of the Massif Central
Depuis la fin de l’année 2017 nous nous sommes retrouvés, entre archéologues aériens œuvrant sur un large territoire allant du Limousin à la Bourgogne, autour de la réalisation d’une exposition partenariale. Au fil d’une dizaine de réunions à Moulins, Montluçon, Saint Just Saint Rambert et Clermont-Ferrand le projet a pris forme. Les premiers échanges ont abouti au choix du thème « Les voies de l’archéologie aérienne ». L’objectif ainsi fixé permettait d’évoquer tant l’évolution de la méthode de recherche qu’un volet particulier concernant les réseaux routiers et tout spécialement celui de l’Antiquité Gallo-romaine. Un catalogue regroupant le contenu des panneaux et des articles complémentaires a vocation à compléter harmonieusement cette exposition sous le regard d’un comité scientifique.

Funerary practices and identity/ies
The passing of an individual in a community generally leads to the implementation of a complex funerary operational chain repeated upon each death. This behaviour can therefore be opposed to non-funerary deposits, characterized by the absence of funerals and/or of a dedicated tomb (corpse rejection or abandonment, burial deprivation - Boulestin 2016). The study of a given group’s “practice” (ibid.) and of its variability allows to identify differences in the deceased’s treatment and to grasp some aspects of the society of the living. Rituals and funerals – which are difficult to assess in the case of pre- and protohistoric populations - as well as funeral gestures, thus reveal one or several of the deceased’s identities. They can consist of their individual identity, related for instance to their sex, age or social status, or of their collective identity, which is “lived and produced” (Lenclud 2008) and refers to their belonging to a group. In the latter case, the role of a funerary practice is to maintain the links between its actors and to ensure its own continuity.

Towards a Decentered History of Dance
How is history moved, reconfigured, stimulated, by current research on dance? In connection with the Lyon Dance Biennale and the forthcoming publication of A History of Dance in the West (Ed. Seuil, Sept. 2020), this international conference in Lyon, France, aims to extend questions addressed by scholars’ contributions to the book, as well as generate entirely new dialogues via various acts of “decentering” dance historical scholarship. The polysemic notion of decentering is here understood as an invitation to reevaluate theoretical models, methods, approaches and historiographies of dance.

2021 marks the bicentennial of the Greek uprising which resulted, at the end of a long war, in the country’s independence:Greece was thus born as a modern nation while romanticism, particularly in France, made it one of its favorite themes,carrying out out a vibrant philhellenic movement. The commemoration should not, however, cover up that there were andare other Greeces, from antiquity to our own day. The theme of this issue is also given in the plural since the construction of Greek art in the modern era is but one of the phenomena considered here. It is the plurality of constructions of Greecein art which unifies the collection of studies and essays which we envision.

Nous souhaiterions initier une réflexion collective relevant des problématiques des Night Studies appliquées aux périodes antique à moderne, en menant une interrogation conceptuelle et notionnelle d'ordre philosophique, heuristique, herméneutique, épistémologique, esthétique et historiographique sur la spécificité de la nuit.
