  Reclaim: Narratives of African Women Artists

  This symposium is part of a wider collaboration with the Africa 2020 Season, a pan-African and multidisciplinary project taking place in France from December 2020 to mid-July 2021. Africa 2020 is an invitation, by N’Goné Fall, General Commissioner of the Season, to look at and understand the world from an African perspective. In this context, the AWARE association: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions whose goal is to improve the exposure of 20th century women artists, sought the expertise of scholars, artists and curators from Africa and around the world to raise the issue of the visibility of women artists in Africa.

  Donner la vie ! C’est un acte multimillénaire qui entretient la perpétuation des êtres sur la terre. La fécondité humaine est donc au cœur de la présence continue de l’homme dans le cycle de la vie. La fécondité, élément qui rend possible la grossesse, entraine à son tour l’accouchement. Malgré que l’accouchement soit un acte naturel, il n’en demeure pas moins qu’à travers le temps et l’espace, les hommes aient développé des rites, des savoirs, des connaissances s’élevant au stade de science pour comprendre les mécanismes, les contraintes et les exigences de la conception et de la mise au monde de l’enfant.

  The gender of independence

  Putting a gender on independence?

  Ce colloque a pour but d’élargir les champs de recherche sur le genre et les luttes pour l’indépendance. Pendant ces deux jours, nous chercherons à (re)définir les limites des indépendances, en trouvant des convergences et divergences entre la vague des indépendances en Amérique latine du XIX^e siècle, celles des États post-ottomans ou post-habsbourgs après la première guerre mondiale, jusqu’aux indépendances des pays africains et asiatiques entre les années 1940-1970.

  Female travellers in the Indian Ocean - 19th century-early 20th century

  This is a call for papers from the historians of the University of La Réunion, members of the Research centre for studies on Indian Ocean societies (Centre de recherches et d’études sur les Sociétés de l’océan Indien-CRESOI) and the Indian Ocean Research Unit/Societies and Spaces (Unité de recherches Océan Indien/Espaces et sociétés) with the aim of publishing a collective work on the theme of women travellers in the Indian Ocean during the late 19^th and the first half of the 20^th century.
