  Garden cities for the 21st century

  Valorization, preservation and challenges in France, Europe and the world

  The aim of this symposium is to put into perspective the different dimensions of a common heritage stemming from the garden city concept developed by Ebenezer Howard in 1898. An overview of the situation, a comparative approach and postulations on possible futures are expected. Four lines of thought and questioning are envisaged. The themes will transversally address the dimension of the built environment and the outdoor space, at different scales encompassing collective spaces of sociability, materiality of places, representations, practices, and so forth.

  Ramau conferences – 2014

  Following the study days dedicated to “architectural and town planning professions faced with the involvement of residents and users” in 2012 and “sustainable town planning and architecture know-how and models” in 2013, the aim of the Ramau 2014 conferences is to concentrate on the relations between sustainability and “management” in the field of urban development and architecture. The incorporation of sustainable development in architectural, urban and landscaping operations seems to have the effect of increasing the concern for management logic in the project process.

  Sites of popular education: conceptions and the architecture of the use of facilities since the thirties

  PAJEP conference

  Ce colloque vise à étudier l’histoire des équipements socioculturels depuis les années 1930. Organisé par Laurent Besse (histoire) et Catherine Clarisse (architecture), il s’adresse à des chercheurs intéressés par les rapports entre éducation populaire et architecture, qu’ils soient historiens, architectes, sociologues, géographes, spécialistes de sciences de l’éducation. L’étude des programmes architecturaux et des conceptions pédagogiques qui les sous-tendent sera complétée par celle des usages de ces bâtiments. Si la perspective est clairement historique, le colloque vise également à identifier un patrimoine de solutions techniques qui mérite d’être réinterrogé au regard des besoins contemporains. Les réhabilitations contemporaines de ces bâtiments sont une thématique qui sera abordée.

  Montpellier, a City of Invention

  Projects and strategies in urban planning

  La Plate-forme d'Observation des Projets et Stratégies Urbaines (POPSU) est un programme partenarial de recherche co-financé par le PUCA à travers le GIP AIGPPAU et différentes collectivités locales de sept grandes agglomérations françaises depuis 2004. Depuis l’année dernière, sa première phase est valorisée à travers un cycle de colloques, une collection d' ouvrages et un site internet. Le sixième colloque se tiendra à Montpellier. La matinée sera consacrée à la restitution des travaux montpelliérains du programme POPSU sous l’intitulé « les échelles du projet urbain dans la construction du territoire métropolitain ». Deux tables rondes seront proposées durant l’après midi : « Le périurbain métropolitaine en émergence : mixité/mobilité/foncier » et « Stratégies urbaines : la réforme territoriale ou comment passer aux territoires de demain ».
