  Searching for places, places of knowledge

  Identifying and indexing research grounds in scientific texts

  This day focuses on the challenges, methods and research questions associated with the recognition of geographical entities in the texts of scientific publications. The first session looks back at land-related research. Overgrazed lands, remote science, visibility of research sites and the local dimension of some sites will be discussed. The second session will present the methodologies for automatically detecting research fields in scientific texts. The third session will show the interest of these methods and the challenge of applying them to large corpora of scientific texts, taking the example of the ISTEX and OpenEdition corpora. The fourth session will present projects proposing interactive keyword and toponym exploration solutions for archaeology and geography journals.

  Les recherches émanant du Web de données conduisent aujourd'hui à penser que l’indexation des productions scientifiques et leurs (inter)connexions sémantiques pourraient permettre d’interagir au-delà des frontières disciplinaires. Mais pour ce faire, il est essentiel de déterminer quels pourraient être ces « connecteurs interdisciplinaires », en tant que supports de coordination et d’intégration des savoirs et des pratiques. Cette question a fait l’objet de travaux fondateurs dans le dernier quart du XX^e siècle, au moment de l’essor des grands projets de recherche interdisciplinaire et inter-acteurs ; récemment, elle a donné lieu à la configuration d’un domaine de recherche informatique à part entière, l’alignement d’ontologies. Au jour de ces expériences et au-delà, quels systèmes d’interrelations construire, avec quelles méthodologies ? Comment co-construire avec les sciences du numérique des systèmes de modélisation, voire d’automatisation ? Selon quelles limites ?
