Approvisionner en temps de crises
La crise sanitaire de 2020 a révélé certaines fragilités de nos systèmes d'approvisionnement. Elle a donné à voir les inquiétudes des consommateurs et a contribué à interroger le rôle des acteurs privés et publics, comme celui des mécanismes autorégulateurs des marchés dans leur participation à l’approvisionnement des populations en biens de subsistance.En mobilisant différents champs disciplinaires, le colloque « Approvisionner en temps de crises » entend inviter des chercheuses et chercheurs de différents horizons à présenter les modalités d’approvisionnement mises en place pour faire face aux crises contemporaines ou passées.

The South Atlantic route and the business of the maritime transport of migrants (1870-1960)
The objective is to propose a special issue to the Journal of Transatlantic Studies, by contributing for the understanding of the business of emigrant maritime transport from the Belle Epoque until the end of the 1960s. The editors of the special issue (Yvette Santos and Paulo César Gonçalves) accept proposals focused on the study of the migration industry linked to the maritime transportation of emigrants from Europe to the South Atlantic countries.

18th Association Charles Gide international conference
L’idée de coopération a été explorée dès avant le XIXe siècle pour penser, entre autres, le fonctionnement économique et politique des sociétés. Elle s’est cristallisée dans les années 1820 dans le sillage de Robert Owen. Au cours de ces deux cents dernières années de nombreux auteurs – par exemple autour de l’avocat du « coopératisme » Charles Gide et de l’École de Nîmes – l’ont placée au cœur de leurs recherches. Elle a donné lieu à un nombre remarquable de mises en œuvre qui méritent toutes une attention soutenue. Elle soulève de nombreuses question au croisement des champs disciplinaires. En voici quelques-unes (la liste n'est bien entendu pas limitative) : jusqu’à quel point l’histoire de la pensée éclaire-t-elle sur les raisons pour lesquelles individus et groupes coopèrent ?

Testing new tools and methods in digital history
The Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C2DH) announces a Summer School co-organised with the European University Institute (Florence) and the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History (Frankfurt), to be held at the Maison Robert Schuman in Luxembourg City from 22nd to 26th June 2020. This Summer School invites to test digital tools and methods for oral history and stresses how digital oral sources contribute to narratives in European Integration History.

Il est organisé avec le soutien de l’université de Picardie Jules Verne, de la région Hauts-de-France, du CURAPP-ESS, du CRESPPA LabTop, du LEST, du RT 27 (Sociologie des intellectuels et de l’expertise) et du RT 42 (Sociologie des élites) de l’Association française de sociologie.

The financing of sectorial policies run by the State
From the budgetary calculations to the implementation of expense
The Research Group on Budgetary Matters (GRAB - 19th-21st centuries) has launched a call for papers in order to stimulate research on the financing of state-led sectoral policies, while offering interested researchers a space for discussion and exchange on their work. The seminar sessions thus scheduled, from May 2020 to December 2021, will alternate with workshops open to witnesses or dedicated to the critical analysis of budgetary sources. The objective is to compile, from these interventions, two or three thematic dossiers for publication in peer-reviewed journals

Visible and invisible borders between Christians and Muslims in the Early Modern World
It has traditionally been argued that with the rise of the modern nation state, borders increasingly became lines demarcating the spatial limits of state power. Recent efforts have been made to re-examine this territorial argument and pay close attention to the social, cultural, political, economic, and religious networks that created, reinforced, and also traversed borderlands. Though war, conquest, and diplomacy repeatedly redrew the dividing lines between empires and kingdoms, extensive interactions and exchanges left the borderlands with deeply entangled roots and routes. These patterns, mechanisms, and forces had a deep impact on all aspects of life and are still felt today. Arguably, no single element has been more dominant in shaping this complex relationship than the regional historiographies and historical memories that tried to write the empires out of their pasts entirely.

La fin de la première guerre mondiale marque une transition dans les relations politiques, économiques, sociales et culturelles entre le Luxembourg et ses voisins dans ce que nous appelons aujourd’hui la Grande Région. Le centre de gravité politique et économique se déplace de l’Allemagne (de l’ouest) vers la France, tandis que la Belgique tente péniblement de trouver sa place dans ces réorganisations territoriales. Le colloque veut s’intéresser à ce processus de transition, en l’élargissant à une série de thématiques connexes, qui mettent en évidence le caractère international et transfrontalier de ces évolutions.

A global history of Trieste in the 18th century
Sources, methods and scales of analysis
À l’occasion de la célébration du tricentenaire de la fondation du port franc de Trieste, cette journée d’étude a pour objectif de rassembler des chercheurs confirmés et doctorants travaillant sur les sources de l’histoire de Trieste. Elle vise à faire à la fois un état des lieux des fonds publics et privés disponibles à Trieste et à Vienne, ainsi qu’en Europe et en Amérique du Nord, et de confronter des approches propres à des champs historiographiques nationaux et disciplinaires variés. Par le croisement de ces fonds et la démarche interdisciplinaire qui l’accompagne, nous souhaitons interroger les concepts d’histoire globale et d’histoire connectée et proposer une nouvelle histoire collective de Trieste interrogeant ses sources et ses échelles d’analyse.

Francoism, its image and policies of influence in France (1936-1975)
Cette journée d’étude entend interroger la politique d’influence du régime franquiste en France de la guerre civile jusqu’à la fin du régime, en 1975. Il s’agit de s’intéresser à la construction de son image publique destinée à traverser la frontière pyrénéenne et à sa réception sur le sol français. Si les évolutions internes du régime franquiste (guerre civile, premier et second franquisme) ont joué un rôle déterminant dans sa politique menée en France, les évolutions sur le territoire français ont joué un rôle tout aussi important. C’est ce phénomène d’interdépendance, ce jeu de miroir entre France et Espagne, que cette journée d’étude souhaite mettre en lumière.

À l'occasion du centenaire de l'assassinat de Rosa Luxemburg (1919-2019), le Centre d’histoire et de sociologie des gauches (université libre de Bruxelles), la Maison du Livre, le Centre des archives du communisme en Belgique, l’Institut Marcel Liebman et la Formation Léon Lesoil coorganisent un colloque de réflexion critique autour de quatre thèmes majeurs qui ont marqué la pensée et l’action de Rosa Luxemburg : la « fin du capitalisme », la « démocratie radicale », l’ « auto-détermination des peuples et impérialisme » et la question de la « grève générale ».

L'objectif de ce colloque est de penser une histoire globale de l'économie sociale et solidaire (ESS), tout en mettant en valeur ses spécificités, sources et méthodes. Il invite à revisiter l'histoire de l'économie sociale et solidaire (ESS) à travers deux axes thématiques principaux : la place de l'ESS dans l'historiographie et le rôle de ses études dans l'articulation des théories d'économie politique aux pratiques sociales ; Les liens entre l'ESS et les institutions politiques, syndicales et religieuses qui oscillent entre conflits, reconnaissance et banalisation.

Feeding others, feeding oneself: food and power from Antiquity to Middle Ages
L’histoire de l’alimentation a été beaucoup explorée durant les vingt dernières années, selon des approches variées allant d’une très classique analyse économique au vaste champ de l’anthropologie historique. Les enjeux de pouvoir représentés par la maîtrise du ravitaillement ainsi que par la redistribution de la nourriture, voire ses usages symboliques, ne sont naturellement pas non plus un domaine vierge. Cependant, ces thématiques mériteraient peut-être de se voir accorder une place plus centrale que cela n’a été le cas jusqu’à présent, et c’est là l’ambition du colloque « Nourrir, se nourrir : enjeux de pouvoir de l’Antiquité au Moyen Âge », organisé à Amiens les 18 et 19 novembre 2019 : reprendre ces questions à nouveaux frais dans une perspective diachronique allant de la période archaïque à la fin du Moyen Âge.

State-building, social movements and political economy
Modernity was marked by the edification of increasingly complex and sophisticated state system, committed to governing territories and populations, through a multiplicity of administrative, fiscal, police and judicial networks. At the same time, new mechanisms for legitimizing political power emerged, based on the building of a public sphere and the dissemination of different forms of collective organization and mobilization: from associations to petitions, from political demonstrations to strikes and riots. Finally, a new regime of production and consumption was created in the form of a Political Economy directed to the creation of markets, the movement of goods and the accumulation of capital.

Medieval culture and war conference
It is an undeniable fact of human history that war has been on many occasions and in many different historical contexts a powerful stimulus for innovations and change in culture, politicals, and thought. During periods of transition warfare had a crucial role in medieval societies. Following previous meetings in Leeds (2016), Lisbon (2017) and Brussels (2018) the 2019 Medieval Culture and War Conference will be held in Athens in the Faculty of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). The conference will focus on ‘Transformation, Renovation, and Continuity’.

Ambrogio Spinola: between Genoa, Flanders and Spain
Networks and Narratives, War and Finances (1569-1639)
This international workshop proposes a collective work at the crossroads of the different economic, political, family, military and cultural networks which constituted the changing and complex context of the life of Ambrogio Spinola, a man of immense fortune and unknown military qualities. His framework? Italy, Flanders, Spain. Scholars with different, although complementary, historiographical approaches will gather around Spinola, aiming to publish a collective biography in 2020. This biography will be the result of an interdisciplinary work, mixing the knowledge of historians of the military, diplomacy, aristocracy or economics, but also using the history of news (creation and circulation), written and pictorial culture, or gender history.
