Le XIX^e siècle face à l'accélération du temps et de l'histoire. L’appel à communications est ouvert à des propositions relevant de la littérature française, de la littérature comparée, de l’histoire, de la philosophie, de l’histoire des arts et de la musicologie. Dans un souci d’analyse globale des phénomènes, on privilégiera des approches transversales, plutôt que des études monographiques.

This call for papers concerns social housing, a rapidly changing and significant field for those who practice architecture, landscape architecture and spatial planning. Present throughout Europe at various levels, from 4% in Romania to 32% in the Netherlands, social housing heavily contributes to urban renewal. Through its material and non-material renovation, as well as the evolution of meanings, stakeholders and populations, new dynamics emerge that influence architectural, urban and landscape forms, modes of living and careers in spatial production. This volume seeks to identify and decode these dynamics through three axes: 1) Towards new models; 2) Between heritage, urban renewal and sustainable development; 3) Spatial forms and social arrangements.

Le colloque « Xenakis, entre les mondes » vise à mettre en évidence le travail et l’héritage artistique d’un homme engagé pour la paix, qui s’émancipe en « errant » d’un territoire à un autre, d’une discipline à une autre, mais toujours guidé par les lois de la nature. This conference aims to revisit the notion of cosmopolitanism in Gulf cities and other regional areas from a comparative perspective. It will be a unique opportunity for scholars of the Gulf and other world regions to engage with cosmopolitanism or otherwise probe the intersection of global studies, urban studies and migration studies from a range of disciplines. Above all, the call for papers emphasizes the correlation between hospitality and space. Jacques Godbout, in his article "Receiving is to give", specifies that hospitality is a "gift of space". So what are the characteristics of these given spaces? Are they permanent, temporary or transitional? Are there inherent areas of hospitality? And how are they built? From hospitals to home, what are these spaces and what is their spatial nature? And what meaning of hospitality do these spaces convey? What kind of space does hospitality produce?

Perspectives for documentation and future exploitation

Les bains municipaux de Strasbourg (1908/10) sont un parimoine culturel transnational d'un genre unique au monde. Fleuron de la politique sociale très progressiste de la municipalité alsacienne au temps du Reichsland allemand, ils comprennent deux bassins, des bains-douches, des bains romains, ainsi qu'une aile médicale. Restés quasiment intacts durant leur service ininterrompu depuis plus de cent ans, ils doivent subir une rénovation importante afin de pouvoir continuer à fonctionner. Au moment où la Ville de Strasbourg discute de la meilleure façon pour préparer ce patrimoine pour l'avenir, une perspective franco-allemande a pour objectif d'esquisser des perspectives d'action sur le fonds de rénovations qui ont déjà eu lieu en Allemagne.

Self, Other and Elsewhere: Images and Imagination in the Port Cities of Atlantic and Mediterranean Europe(18th – 21st Centuries)

In these times when urban marketing is being applied to outline the identity of our cities with a view to promoting it more effectively, this international seminar proposes to reflect upon the representation systems of European port cities on the Atlantic and the Mediterranean from the 18th century through to the present day. The relationship between city and port – we will be addressing only sea ports here – is far from simple, depending on the types of activities (trade, industry, military, tourism, etc.) and from one period in time to another, with the relationships urban societies have with their port spaces and activities varying in intensity and in nature, especially as the long period of time considered here spans the phases of the development of maritime activity, its decline and, more recently, urban restructuring. In this respect, quaysides form the line along which city and port meet, and provide the most tangible illustration of these transformations. Over the years, how have urban societies represented their ports and the opening onto the world they provide?

The Ruins of the Heritagization

The aim of ‘Ruins of the Heritagization’ is to institute an archeology of territories considered as being ‘heritage’ focusing the "ruins" produced by the process of labelling cities. ‘Ruins of the Heritagization’ will be set in two moments of reflection, in Rio de Janeiro and in Paris. They will allow the mobilization of efforts to focus on what in the speeches and patrimonial practices is perceived as "saved" while being, at the same time, what trivializes a local economy, promotes the destruction of informal settlements, or still, transforms radically established practices. Relating what labeling leaves on the territories, which territories it produces and leaves as inheritance will be the subject of these meetings.

Ce numéro de la revue In Situ, revue en ligne des patrimoines éditée par le Ministère de la culture et de la communication (direction générale des patrimoines) entend explorer les transformations de l’architecture administrative de la France contemporaine, en fixant un cadre suffisamment large pour que cette question soit abordée non pas seulement à l’aune des effets de la décentralisation, mais en prenant en compte la période antérieure, à partir des années 1950. Des réalisations très récentes, datant du début du XXI^e siècle pourront être prises en compte, de même que des études et projets non réalisés.

La fondation Calouste Gulbenkian soutient l'organisation d'un colloque international au patriarcat arménien de Jérusalem, les 3 et 4 juillet 2014, sur le thème : « La genèse de Jérusalem : espaces construits et communautés historiques ». Il s'agit de s'interroger sur la construction historique et sociale de la Jérusalem contemporaine en étudiant les relations entretenues par les différentes communautés de la ville avec l'espace qui les entoure, dans leurs multiples dimensions, aussi bien religieuses que séculières. Les organisateurs encouragent une approche pluridisciplinaire. Le colloque est ouvert à toutes les aires culturelles potentiellement concernées, et notamment aux spécialistes en études arméniennes. Il mettra l'accent sur les périodes moderne et contemporaine.

Organized by AHICF as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the first world war outbreak, the conference, by focusing on stations, should highlight the importance of transport in the first world war history. It aims to bring together historians and social scientists (including junior scholars) and heritage professionals. The call for papers will run from October 1, 2013 to March 1, 2014. Proposals (title, outline, including an indication of prospective sources, brief CV) should be sent by March 1, 2014 to: contact@ahicf.com. The diversity and recompositions of Protestantism in Paris

Ce colloque s’inscrit dans le cadre du programme de recherche « Le protestantisme à Paris et les enjeux de la diversité » (appel à projets « Paris 2030 », mairie de Paris). Il vise à réfléchir aux recompositions contemporaines du protestantisme à Paris et en proche banlieue, dans un contexte urbain marqué par d’importantes mobilités (géographiques et religieuses), des contraintes spécifiques (cherté et pénurie de locaux) et une forte dimension symbolique, qui nourrit des revendications de visibilité dans l’espace public. La démarche retenue est pluridisciplinaire, associant historiens, géographes, anthropologues et sociologues et combinant des approches quantitatives et / ou qualitatives. Le colloque proposera des analyses croisées des mutations du paysage protestant parisien, à travers trois axes thématiques : les pratiques protestantes en contexte urbain ; la gestion de la « diversité » par les acteurs institutionnels ; l’inscription dans l’espace urbain de ces recompositions des pratiques protestantes.

Islands and cities in Corsica and the Mediterranean

Reflection on the urban situation in cities on Mediterranean islands

Cinquante années après la publication par le géographe aixois Yerahmiel Kolodny d’une thèse remarquée sur la ville et le fait urbain en Corse, l’ADECEM (Association pour le développement des études corses et méditerranéennes) se propose de réactiver cette réflexion en organisant sur ce thème un colloque à Bastia en septembre 2013. Placée au cœur de thématiques transversales, la ville, pour être saisie dans sa réalité multiple, requiert un large éventail de regards qui vont de la géographie, au sens le plus large, à l’histoire, à la sociologie et aux sciences du langage sans exclusive scientifique. Se situant toutefois dans la contemporanéité, ce colloque privilégiera parmi les interventions historiques les approches qui permettront d’éclairer l’état urbain contemporain au prisme de ses dynamiques géo-historiques, faites de conflits territoriaux et de bifurcations géopolitiques. Inversement les interventions ciblant de manière statique une période précise de l’histoire sans conséquence interprétative pour le présent, seront évitées.
