  Who named the gods? Utterers, addressers, ritual agents

  The ERC MAP Seminar “The Names of the Gods! 5: Who named the gods? Utterers, addressers, ritual agents” pursues the investigation on the systems of naming of the divine. This year, it focuses on the human agents in the process of naming the divine, whether they are producers of a discourse on the deities, addressers in a communication with the deities, or even experts in charge of a ritual knowledge. What agency do men and women exercise in the production of a specific denomination of the divine? How can we question their choices, their anchoring in a tradition or their innovation strategies?

  Individual Rites of Passage in the Ancient Near East

  Le colloque international « Vivre, grandir et mourir dans l'Antiquité » réunira, les 23, 24, et 25 novembre 2011 à la MISHA de Strasbourg de nombreux spécialistes des rites de passage du Proche-Orient (monde cunéiforme et Egypte) et du monde gréco-romain. Au croisement de la philologie, de l'archéologie, de l'histoire des religions et de l'anthropologie sociale, il cherchera à définir certaines des modalités de la « fabrication » de l'humain.

  La vie quotidienne des moines en Orient et Occident (IVe-Xe siècle)

  L’Institut français d’archéologie orientale du Caire (IFAO), l’École française d’Athènes (EFA) et le Centre d’histoire et civilisation de Byzance (UMR 8167 – Orient et Méditerranée) ont lancé en avril 2008 un programme de recherche pour les années 2008-2011 ayant pour objet l’étude comparée de la vie quotidienne des moines en Orient et en Occident, de la naissance du mouvement monastique en Égypte à l’époque des réformes à Byzance et en Europe occidentale (IVe-Xe siècle).Le premier colloque de ce programme ayant pour objet notre connaissance des sources est accueilli par l’EfA du 14 au 16 mai 2009.
