  Chercheur·es invité·es ERC « Mapping Ancient Polytheisms »

  Le projet ERC Advanced Grant Mapping Ancient Polytheisms (MAP) 741182 dispose d’un support budgétaire destiné à inviter des chercheurs dans ses locaux. Les séjours pourront être de 2 à 4 mois par chercheur, en dehors des mois de juillet et août (en raison de la fermeture de l’université une grande partie de l’été). Les chercheurs invités travailleront au sein de l’équipe, échangeront avec elle et participeront à l’enrichissement de la base de données. Les chercheurs invités seront également sollicités pour les activités scientifiques de MAP (séminaire, journées d’étude, colloques…). Cet appel à candidature s’adresse à toute personne, française ou étrangère, dont les compétences et le projet sont jugés intéressants pour le projet MAP.

  Dans le cadre du projet ERC Advanced Grant 741182 MAP (Mapping Ancient Polytheisms. Cult Epithets as an Inteface between Religious Systems and Human Agency), coordonné par Corinne Bonnet, un poste contractuel de post-doctorant à temps plein (100 %) est à pourvoir, à dater du 1er octobre 2020 à l'université Toulouse – Jean Jaurès. La réalisation du projet peut impliquer des missions scientifiques en France et/ou à l'étranger.

  Starting in the year 2020, duration between 1 to 12 months

  Projet ERC « Mapping Ancient Polytheisms » – contrat doctoral

  Le projet ERC Advanced Grant « Mapping Ancient Polytheisms. Cult Epithets as an Interface between Religious Systems and Human Agency » (MAP – 741182) propose un contrat doctoral dans le domaine de l’histoire des religions anciennes. Le projet de thèse reposera sur l’étude d’un corpus substantiel d’inscriptions provenant des colonies grecques fondées au Proche-Orient, dans une aire comprise entre la Syrie et l’Indus. Le poste sera pourvu pour le 1^er octobre 2019 et pour une période de 36 mois à Toulouse (France).

  Late Antiquity in the north-western half of the Arabian peninsula: material culture, chronology, exchanges and territorial entities

  The very quick recent development of archaeological and epigraphic work in Saudi Arabia brought deep changes in our knowledge of the Arabian Peninsula — which until the middle of the 2000's was only based on research on the periphery: Kuwait, Bahrayn, Qatar, The Emirates, Oman, and Yemen. That development reveals how wide the gaps are, of the interpretative frame in particular, for broad geo-historical segments. That is true especially for what is generally called Late Antiquity (4th- early 7th centuries AD), and here "Late Pre-Islamic" or even in local religious terms jâhîliyah, "ignorance" — a term which actually reflects correctly the state of knowledge. The amount of data collected within less than ten years within a large North-Western half of the Peninsula makes possible to see that except for the extreme North (current Joradanian border and Jawf Oasis) the Christianity does not penetrate and Byzantiums unifying power is absent. One is even unable to name what the field teams are dealing with. The proposed doctoral work must produce the state of that question, for which there if a rich evidence in stratigraphy, architecture, objects, and even epigraphy due to the recent demonstration of the Nabataean-Arabic continuum. The comparison with the Byzantine and christianized areas of the extreme North must be one of the leading strands but no way the only one, since the heart of the subject lyes, on the contrary, in the currently unnamed culture(s) of the Peninsula itself.
