Steering Innovation in Communication Infrastructures
The interaction between technological innovation and governance of communication infrastructures — the essence of the “guiding star”, as suggested by the title — constitutes the theme of the conference in February 2020. We wish to explore how innovation was steered by postal and telecommunication companies, as well as by other public and private players in the field of communication infrastructures: enterprises, governments, professional and state organizations, the users.

5th Conference of Italian Society of Science
The 5th STS Italia Conference will be held in Milan, Italy, June 12 through 14, 2014, by the Italian Society of Science and Technology Studies, in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano Doctoral School in Design. The conference is an opportunity to present empirical and theoretical work from a variety of disciplines and fields (sociology, anthropology, law, philosophy, design, psychology, semiotics, history, and economics, etc.). It focuses on diverse aspects of the social study of innovation processes, technology, science and design. The 5th STS Italia Conference theme is design processes.

Les journées d'études « L'art et la manière d'acheter. Apprendre à consommer en Europe dans le second vingtième siècle » réuniront à la Maison Suger à Paris, les 29 et 30 novembre, des historiens et des sociologues pour réfléchir a un aspect peu exploré de l'histoire de la consommation : l'acte d'achat et les multiples apprentissages qu'il suppose. -

Presse purée, cocotte-minute, marmite, SEB, Birambeau, Mastrad, Vedette... ces objets et ses marques emprunts de mémoire marquent nos vies et portent nos souvenirs. Fort de ce constat nous vous proposons de croiser nos regards sur ses ustensiles de cuisine moins futilitaires que nécessaires (pratiques, utiles et identitaires)... Écrivains, designers, chefs d'entreprise, historiens, sociologues, conservateurs du patrimoine pensent et repensent ces objets, cette « bartassaille » comme on le dit à Saint-Etienne. Cinq axes seront développés dans un soucis de comprendre comment naît un ustensile et pourquoi il entre parfois dans notre patrimoine, et comment histoire, mémoire et innovation sont liées pour devenir de vrais moteur de la création.
