  What have Meso­pot­amian Em­pires ever done for their people? Track­ing the macro in the mi­cro

  In this workshop, we aim to take the view from below and investigate in what way imperial dynamics may have affected the lifeways of people in their territories. The basic questions of this workshop are: How did the empires of the Ancient Near East affect the lives of ordinary people in their realm?  To which extent was rural life and life in smaller towns permeated by imperial agents and policies, hence by imperial dynamics?

  Organisé sur une base interdisciplinaire, ce colloque est centré sur les approches théoriques des puissances émergentes et des analyses empiriques appliquées à la République démocratique du Congo (RDC). En privilégiant les approches interdisciplinaires, comparatives, prospectives, géo-économiques, stratégiques et socio-culturelles, il se veut l'occasion d'une réflexion scientifique sur la trajectoire, les ressorts et les potentialités, les atouts et les vulnérabilités de la RDC, considérée à la fois comme un pays en « émergence » et un champ privilégié des pays émergents.

  Narratives of mining in the Pacific - history, literature, politics and heritage

  Le projet de ce dossier, coordonné par Eddy Banaré et Pierre-Yves Le Meur est de mettre en lumière autant la variété des problématiques posées par l’exploitation minière dans le Pacifique que leurs points de convergence, aux travers du prisme de sa mise en récit : comment la mine est-elle racontée ? Par qui, à quelles fins et avec quels effets ? Pour traiter de ce thème, sont attendus des papiers proposant des analyses et des mises en contexte des textes, situations et héritages historiques et des productions artistiques (littéraires, picturales, cinématographiques, théâtrales, etc.) et muséographiques portant sur les différentes formes de mise en récit de la mine dans le Pacifique.

  Rethinking the Political and the History of Politics in Chile: Languages, Discourses and Practices of Power

  The objective of this colloquium will be to debate and analyze politics and the political by means of the different forms of language, discourse and practices that intervene in the construction of the social world. There are myriad examples of this in Chilean history. Taking history, political philosophy and political economy as the starting points, we invite doctoral candidates, researchers and academics to participate in this truly trans disciplinary  space of debate, reflection and feedback whose goal is not only to unite a community of researchers into “the political” in the republican period but also to select the best works presented for a future publication in the format of a collective work or a special dossier of a scientific publication.
