  Thought and act. The theoretical stakes and practices of rethinking of the architectural act

  Ce colloque vise à explorer comment le domaine de l’architecture est touché par un mouvement de revalorisation du faire. Cette tendance se manifeste par le fait que certains architectes s’engagent de manière plus directe dans les pratiques constructives, en prise avec certains matériaux ou certaines techniques. Le colloque propose d’investiguer la diversité des manifestations de la revalorisation du faire en architecture suivant trois axes distincts : les évolutions historiques et enjeux théoriques de ce phénomène ; les acteurs impliqués, les motivations et les valeurs qui les poussent à s’y engager ; et les moyens ou outils qui sont mobilisés en vue d’établir une relation plus directe avec la matière et sa mise en œuvre.

  Gender Dynamics and Practices in Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape Architecture

  In France, as in several other countries, the professions of architect, urban planner and landscape architect have crossed a historic threshold in terms of feminization. However, numerical parity does not mean men and women have equal professional opportunities: numerous demands of feminist associations remain unsatisfied. They note the persistence of many professional inequalities: in terms of income, in terms of financial control and job insecurity, in terms of visibility, and in terms of recognition. This call for papers aims to gather contributions for an assessment of the gains and limits of feminization and gender dynamics at work in the professional worlds of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture in France, fifty years after the "massive" entry of women into architecture schools in 1968.

  Thinking - Making. Perspectives on the growing prominence of making in architecture

  This conference explores the growing prominence of making in architecture, as manifested by architects who engage more directly in building practices, dealing more closely with materials and techniques. The colloquium proposes to investigate a diverse set of cases where making is re-evaluated and celebrated. It calls for papers along three lines of inquiry: historical and theoretical perspectives on the evolution of the relationship between thinking and making, and its consequences in architecture, case studies that assess the motivations and values of actors involved in making in the field of architecture, investigations into the means and tools that aim at a closer relationship between designers, materials and built forms.

  "New players" and the evolution of urban modes of production - post-doc

  "Planning Grand Paris" chair. Lab'Urba: renewing expertise on uses in calls for innovative projects

  Le post-doctorat proposé par la chaire « Aménager le Grand Paris » et le Lab'Urba s’interroge sur les modalités et sur les conséquences du renouvellement des expertises sur les usages dans le cadre des dispositifs d’appels à projets (urbains) innovants (API) et, au-delà, dans les opérations d’aménagement dans le Grand Paris. L’une des conséquences de ces API est l’émergence de « nouveaux entrants » dans le champ professionnel du projet urbain, tels que les spécialistes des usages et les opérateurs de service. Le projet de post-doctorat devra contribuer à la connaissance de ces « nouveaux entrants » et à l’analyse de leur rôle, tout en évaluant les implications sociopolitiques de leur émergence. Il s’agira donc de concilier une approche empirique capable d’éclairer leurs pratiques et leurs trajectoires et une analyse des effets des procédures instituées par les appels à projets.

  Following the study days dedicated to “architectural and town planning professions faced with the involvement of residents and users” in 2012 and “sustainable town planning and architecture know-how and models” in 2013, the aim of the Ramau 2014 conferences is to concentrate on the relations between sustainability and “management” in the field of urban development and architecture. The incorporation of sustainable development in architectural, urban and landscaping operations seems to have the effect of increasing the concern for management logic in the project process.
