  Formal and informal networks of migrant women and men in settlement process (14th-19th centuries)

  Panel at the European Social Science History Conference (ESSHC)

  This panel aims to study settlement patterns of migrants, according to a gendered approach. It aims to bring together scholars working on migration and settlement dynamics, by focusing on the extension and quality of relationships that newcomers could develop in the new environment and by highlighting differences between men and women. In addition it aims to investigate how these ties influenced, successfully or not, their settlement process: the daily life, the research of a job or a house, the access to credit networks, to poor relief or to other urban resources etc...

  The fiftieth anniversary of the society of demographic history

  La société de démographie historique (SDH) organise pour son cinquantième anniversaire un colloque au Sénat les 5 et 6 septembre 2013. Trait d’union entre le formidable héritage des générations d’historiens démographes qui ont fait la SDH et les chantiers de recherche qui s’ouvrent déjà et s’ouvriront dans l’avenir, ce colloque s'articulera à la suite d'une séance commémorative autour de trois séances portant respectivement sur les « Modèles démographiques et politiques de population », les « Âges de la vie » et « Parentés ». Les interventions permettront de poser un bilan de la recherche des trente dernières années et d'esquisser les lignes de force des recherches futures.
