  Summer School - History

  An Environmental History of the Great War

  We intend to bring together an international group of 20 to 30 graduate students working on military, cultural, social, and environmental history of the First World War from 2nd to 7th July 2018. Over the course of the week, they will have opportunity to get to know each other, but also a wide range of internationally recognized academic experts. Guided tours on excursions to French and Belgian sites are an integral part of the program and will enrich the participants' experience.

  Conference, symposium - Asia

  New research on the History of Chinese gardens and landscapes

  Organised by Dr Jan Woudstra in conjunction with the Gardens Trust, the event will look at new discoveries in the field from both professionals and post-graduate students from around the world. Dr Alison Hardie will introduce the conference and outline the importance that Maggie Keswick’s 1978 book The Chinese Garden, History Art and Architecture has played in the subject. It is a unique opportunity to hear speakers from UK and International institutions to present their new research in the field. Talks will cover subjects as wide-ranging as Jesuit water landscapes, gardens as museums, Feng Shui symbolism and botanical watercolours.

  Cahiers Thématiques n°17, Laboratoire conception, territoire, histoire (LaCTH)

  Le laboratoire de recherche de l’École nationale supérieure d’architecture et de paysage de Lille (LACTH / Laboratoire conception, territoire, histoire) publie annuellement les Cahiers thématiques. En convoquant tout à la fois la figure géomorphologique de la plaine, la topologie du plat, et la dimension représentationnelle des plans, le dix-septième numéro des Cahiers Thématiques, qui paraîtra en octobre 2017, voudrait rassembler des contributions interrogeant d’hypothétiques relations entre la planéité et la planification.

  From the street to the Museum

  Silence and sound from the Middle Ages to today: perceptions, sonic identities and patrimonialisation

  Le Centre d'histoire culturelle des sociétés contemporaines (UVSQ), le MRTE, laboratoire de géographie de l'UCP et le LéaV, laboratoire de l'École d'architecture de Versailles lancent un appel à contribution pour une journée d'études consacrée à la perception, aux identités sonores des espaces vécus et à la patrimonialisation des archives sonores. Cette journée d'étude s'inscrit dans le cadre du LabEx Patrima visant à fédérer la recherche sur le patrimoine matériel en associant praticiens de la conservation et chercheurs des sciences exactes et humaines. Les organisateurs se proposent de réunir des contributions venues de tous horizons autour de thématiques allant de la perception ou la mesure des environnements sonores, la conservation ou la cartographie des paysages sonores anciens, la formation des identités sonores, aux représentations ou évocations des scènes sonores dans les arts et la littérature. Les propositions de communication doivent être retournées pour le 1er septembre 2012.
