  From creativity in the city to the creative city

  Ce congrès pluridisciplinaire a pour objectif de croiser les regards de chercheurs (économie, gestion, histoire, sociologie, géographie, étude urbaine…) et de praticiens (entreprises publiques et privées, institutions étatiques, organisations non gouvernementales, etc.) sur le thème de la créativité et la ville. Nous retenons, de manière non exhaustive, les domaines du tourisme, de la culture, de l’environnement et du développement durable, du changement climatique, de l’entrepreneuriat culturel et créatif, de l’entrepreneuriat social. Trois axes permettront d’aborder ces regards complémentaires.

  Post-neo-classical perspectives on economic development: Emerging global cities and varieties of capitalism theorization

  Topical Issue of "Open Economics" Journal

  This topical issue of Open Economics invites submissions that explore both qualitatively and quantitatively how various cities have developed into global hubs of economic activity both historically and contemporaneously. The theoretical and methodological focus of this issue is the application of comparative methods for the purpose of analyzing economic systems in terms that go beyond neo-classical assumptions of economic theory found in conventional macro and micro economics. This also connects to the scholarly discourse on the varieties of capitalism or modernity as a perspective expected to be instructive for considering the preconditions for and effects of the rise of global financial and economic centers, such as London, New York and Hong Kong historically and Singapore, Tokyo and Shanghai more recently.

  Naval arsenals from the 21st century to the present day

  Le propos de cette manifestation a été de réunir ces chercheurs autour du thème des arsenaux de marine, qui a de longue date retenu l’intérêt de chercheurs, car étudier l’arsenal, c’est comprendre la préparation de la guerre, thème conducteur et transversal de l’historiographie navale. Cette entité se prête en outre à une « histoire totale », à la fois économique, sociale, financière, technologique, industrielle, géographique, stratégique, maritime… Les arsenaux de Marine sont donc désormais bien connus, et leur étude a la plupart du temps été conduite dans le cadre de grandes thèses, chaque établissement ayant trouvé « son » spécialiste.

  Public policies of rent control in Europe (1914-2014)

  In reaction to the continuing rise of housing rents, the French government has adopted specific policies (in particular the “loi ALUR” of August, 2015), which reintroduce rent regulation. This measure is not a novelty. It has been used several times in recent history, in particular in reaction to crises: situations of war or recession. It is not a French particularity either. Confronted with situations of social or economic crises, other European countries have used similar measures. The objective of this seminar is to engage researchers from different countries (France, Great-Britain, Netherlands), and from different academic backgrounds (economics, history, sociology, urban planning) in a debate concerning the emergence, the implementation and the effects of policies of rent regulation.

  Business, consumption and territory

  Le commerce de détail est passé d’une fonction de distribution associée à la société de production à une fonction polyforme associée à la société de consommation, où la dimension ludique ou « distractive » prend une place d’importance. Les lieux du commerce se transforment sous l’effet conjugué des contraintes urbanistiques (urbanisme commercial), de la montée des nouveaux modes d’achat (e-commerce, m-commerce, t-commerce) et de la diversification des profils des consommateurs. L’objectif de ce séminaire est donc d’approfondir ces nouvelles problématiques liées au commerce de détail et à la consommation.
